The devil's negative reputation is not fully deserved

In order to attain greater knowledge, I had to sacrifice a piece of myself

He said that's nowhere close enough but it's a damn good start
The devil acknowledged that the sacrifice was not sufficient, but it showed the right intent

I wrote the secret that I buried on the wishing well wall
I shared a personal truth in exchange for greater knowledge

He said, I've seen one it follows that I've seen them all
The devil was familiar with sharing personal truths in exchange for knowledge

We spoke of human destination in a perfect world
We discussed what human desires look in an ideal scenario

Derived the nature of the universe found it unfulfilled
Our conversation led us to the conclusion that the universe cannot fulfill human desires

As I took him in my arms he screamed, I'm not insane
In an unexpected moment, I found a sense of connection with the devil
