After generating 100 million streams, attracting 100k cumulative social media followers, and receiving acclaim from Pitchfork, MTV, Thissongissick, and many more, the New Jersey-raised and brooklyn-based artist and producer embeds an important affirmation within the framework of his next full-length album, "Daymaker".
Since 2012, he has carved out a niche of his own in addition to collaborating in the studio and on stage with Big Gigantic, Griz, Madeon, Tokimonsta, and Matoma, among others.
Not to mention, he graced the bills of festivals such as Austin City Limits, Electric Forest, Okeechobee, Holy Ship!, and Voodoo Music + arts, to name a few. Critical acclaim followed with Pitchfork describing “believe in me” as “a new summer anthem.” regarding 2016’s bright moments, mtv wrote, “the producer’s new album weaves smooth 1970s and 1980s samples into perfect grooves.”
In 2019, he began to widen the sonic palette. For the first time, he hit the studio with collaborators to architect what would become daymaker. He worked closely with an all-star cast of musicians, including keyboardist Borahm Lee [pretty lights], Jeff Franca [thievery corporation], Eddie Roberts [the new mastersounds], Hunter Roberts, hip-hop funk duo recess, Mike Tallman of funk and roots outfit euforquestra and the color red label, and more. Now, he introduces daymaker with a brazilian bounce, tropical house flavor, and chilled beats on lead single “wild summer.”

Yeah
Hey, baby
Subwoman
Oh, yeah
Yeah
Hey, baby
Instead, I end up on...
Yeah
Yeah
Hey, baby
Subwoman
Oh, yeah
Yeah
Hey, baby
Subwoman
Instead, I end up on my knees
Hey, baby
Begging you to, please, forgive me
I know you know you were wrong
Hey, baby
But my love for you is, oh, so strong
Oh, yeah
Yeah
Hey, baby
Subwoman
Oh, yeah
Yeah
Hey, baby
Subwoman
Instead, I end up on...
Yeah
Yeah
Hey, baby
Subwoman
Oh, yeah
Yeah
Hey, baby
Subwoman
Say, baby
Hey, baby
Baby, yeah
Say, baby
Hey, baby
Baby, yeah
Oh, yeah
Hey, baby
Begging you to, please, forgive me
I know you know you were wrong
Hey, baby
But my love for you is, oh, so strong
Flamingosis's song "Finesse (Hey Baby)" is a song about begging for forgiveness after being wronged in a relationship. The song features repetitive lyrics, mostly consisting of the phrases "Hey, Baby" and "Subwoman" with occasional verses. The song starts with the phrase "Yeah" repeated thrice, probably signifying the singer's eagerness to communicate his thoughts. The phrase "Hey Baby" and "Subwoman" could signify two different things or people. It may be that the singer is torn between two women whom he has been in a relationship before. The singer could be emphasizing his plea by addressing both women in the chorus. It could also mean that the woman, whom the singer is begging for forgiveness, represents both women that he's involved with.
The verses show remorse and regret for not being strong enough to let go of the woman even after she caused him hurt. The lyrics "Instead, I end up on my knees, begging you to please forgive me. I know you know you were wrong, but my love for you is, oh, so strong" show the desperation of the singer, who wants to make amends and probably wants the woman to give their relationship another chance. The song ends with repetitive chanting of "Say, baby" and "Hey, Baby" mixed with apologies and promises of eternal love.
