This is my favorite song from the soundtrack. When I was a kid I seen this in the theater. My mothers friend owned the theater. She let us watch movies for free. Also free popcorn and hotdogs. I stayed all day and watched it 3 times in a row. I did the same thing with the Beatles let it be movie. This song brings back great memories of that day.

I turned 50 last year. I remember seeing "AG" in Junior High when it first came out. This music brought back alot of memories. I remember the ending bothered me back in 1973 because I thought it was some sort of true story and those characters really died or went missing. ......In 2004 they played "AG" at the Harrahs auto show case in Reno, Nevada. Charles Martin Smith, Cindy Williams, Candy Clark, and Paul LeMat did a great job interacting with the fans.

Fantastic song, even better movie. I saw it in the theaters when it came out in the early 70s. I was in high school then. Now, at the time, I was listening to music like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith, Led Zepplin, etc., but I still went out and bought the soundtrack (I was careful to go to a music store well off the beaten path and away from where my friends and I normally bought our records). I remember when my mother saw the suggestive cover graphic of the car hop, she was MORTIFIED! I didn't get the big deal. Anyway, its a great movie and sountrack. Pity they don't make more movies like this. MAG was pretty good too, I have to say, despite its being received and reviewed poorly by critics. That opening scene when the Hueys flying in at tree top level while "She's Not There" plays is so f'ing reminiscent of my experiences in the Navy, but that's a story for another thread.

I was in 1st grade when Kennedy died in Texas. Then Vietnam. Ruined the beauty of American life. Till then we believed that our government was truly ours. I went to a car show in Newport, WA where they had the original '58 Impala from the the movie. It hasn't been touched since the movie was filmed, even the air in the rear tires is the same!!!!!! Amazing experience...... It was almost like walking up and laying a hand on Marilyn Monroe!!!!!! LOL

When I was 10 years old my parents used to play this album. Back then there was a soccer team in our league that had a girl on it. I thought it was cool that a chick played soccer on a boys team. ok here is something for you all, I lived two blocks from the guy who owned the hot rod that was raced against harrison ford... No SH**!! I ran passed his house for two years, and finally asked him about it.. According to him, he was offered xxx amount of dollars to let them use the rod, he agreed, and the rest is history... did I drive it? no.. but I did sit in it... a really nice guy...

Used to go see them when they were in town at the place they became "famous" at- The Sink on the corner of Penn and 13th on "The Hill" across from the then "Leaning Tower of Pizza"-a really nice everything made on site from scratch pizza and sub place.. The Sink was pretty much a dive back in the late 60s-early 70s. There were two much better venues there for music just up the street-Tulagi (The Tool)-where I remember going to see Doc Watson and 3 Kings. All kinds places to eat there then too-mostly college student oriented menus but also a couple "sit down", full menu restaurants.

From my understanding, every song was from the 50's or early 60's except a few songs by Flash Cadillac and the Continental Kids who acted as the band that played at the Hop in the movie. They covered some songs & supposedly wrote this song even though the main melody is a blatant rip off of the Beach Boys' "Don't Hurt My Little Sister". That song was released in 1965 I believe, three years after the movie takes place.

This exact version can only be found on the original movie soundtrack ....they were a cover band and actually wrote this song...the band recorded it after the movie and changed the lyric from Bobby sox and a phony tail to an 11 on the 10 point scale....either it was the original version or the studio may have had the rights to the sound track.and they had to change it....no-- one is talking...so it remains a mystery.... fantastic song ..first song from the gym band in the beginning of the movie and it set the tone and mood for the entire movie... almost everything in this film is based on a true story,.. that's what makes it so believable, it's the directors childhood memories,...growing up on the 50s....so many young stars that went on to have long memorable careers .... definitely a classic.
