1) Flat Earth Society was founded in 1998, when no-nonsense artist, former architect, clarinettist, saxophonist, keyboard player, composer and producer Peter Vermeersch, wanted to explore new horizons after having convinced music lovers all over the word with Maximalist! and the cult legend band X-legged Sally. Vermeersch, who worked with international artists like Josse De Pauw, Wim Vandekeybus, Vincent Bal, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Fred Frith, The Simpletones and Jazzwork from Berlin and wrote music for the Arditti Quartet, PrimaLa Musica and theSmithQuartet, assembled a pack of inspired and inimitable musicians, forming a big band which has nowadays become much more than just a big band. Peter Vermeersch included, the band now consists of a permanent group of 15 musicians: Stefaan Blancke (trombone), Benjamin Boutreur (saxes), Berlinde Deman (bass tuba), Bart Maris (trumpet), Michel Mast (saxes), Marc Meeuwissen (trombone), Kristof Roseeuw (double bass), Luc Van Lieshout (trumpet), Bruno Vansina (saxes), Peter Vandenberghe (keyboards & compositions), Teun Verbruggen (percussion), Pierre Vervloesem (guitar), Wim Willaert (accordion), Tom Wouters (clarinet, percussion).

The music of Flat Earth Society, varying from strictly written sheet music to liberating improvisation, is 95% homemade. Streaks of music of other composers are used as inspiration, frequently arranged, adapted and integrated into Flat Earth Society compositions, adding a wide range of atmospheres and styles to the eclectic Flat Earth Society universe. Flat Earth Society, who dare to flirt with other disciplines such as theatre and film and have the ability to seduce a number of different audiences, from more select jazz listeners to a wild young rock public, is at its best live on stage.

Mike Patton discovered the music of Flat Earth Society. He immediately proposed the band to release their next album and in attendance of that album he wanted to bring out a compilation album in the US. Isms was compiled by Mike Patton himself. Flat Earth Society joined Patton’s band Fantômas on their European tour in Italy, Belgium, Holland, France, Switzerland and England.

2) Flat Earth Society is a 60s psych pop/rock band from Lynn, just North of Boston. Flat Earth Society were notable for their crispy, clear vocal sound. In early 1968 they were approached by the Boston advertising firm Quinn and Johnson to make an album and a jingle for the manufacturer of the 'Waleeco' candy bar - the F. B. Washburn Candy Company. That year every 'Waleeco' bar carried a coupon advertising the Flat Earth's Society's album Waleeco for $1.50 and six 'Waleeco' bar wrappers.
Recorded at Fleetwood Recording Studio in Revere, most of the material was written by Kerivan, the only non-original being a slow melodic version of Midnight Hour. The album covers quite a wide rock spectrum with goodtime (I'm So Happy), folk (When You're There and The Prelude For Town Monk), hard rock (Four & Twenty Miles and Shadows), as well as psychedelia, but each track has the band's own style about it. Aside from Feelin' Much Better, the best tracks are arguably on the second side of the album. Dark Street Downtown has some haunting vocals superimposed upon swirling piano. Portrait In Grey is a haunting piano-oriented instrumental and Satori, a very strange psychedelic instrumental.
The band made a few appearances after making the album but broke up soon after.

If the earth was flat and the sun was moving then the sun would look smaller when farther away form you and bigger when closer. And there wouldn't be any sunsets/sunrises. The sun would just get smaller and smaller in the sky when going farther away.

@@sebthepo8260 The sun acts in exaclty that way. It is smaller the further away it is from you. You can see this happen more clearly just as it sets over the horizon. It shrinks into the horizon. Many videos show this effect.

One thing you may notice about the moon is that during a sunny day, it is transparent, and you can see even the stars right through it at times.

You can't see Polaris when in the south because it is too far away. The human eye can only see so far.

Clockwise and counter clockwise is determined by your orientation. for example, If you are standing inside the middle of a rotating tube, it will appear clockwise when facing one direction, but counter-clockwise when facing the opposite direction.

Predicting Lunar eclipses is nothing new. The ancient Mayan civilisations had perfected it long before any such globe earth was proposed.

Lunar eclipses actually don't make sense on a globe earth because of what is called a "selenelion eclipse". Which is an eclipse when both the sun and moon can be seen at the same time above the horizon. It has been dubbed "the impossible eclipse" because it doesn't make sense with a globe model. It is of course explained away, the claim being that though you can see the sun and moon, they are not actually there.

Helium only floats because the oxygen is more dense than the helium. As a result, it displaces the balloon and moves it upwards.

The atmosphere gets thinner as it gets higher up. So much so that it's less dense than the helium. At which point it moves the helium back down.

On our planet, people in the northern hemisphere see the face of the moon right side up while the southern hemisphere sees it upside down. On a flat Earth, that's impossible. On either hemisphere, a person would be seeing the complete wrong side of the moon.

Your retort to this is that if you draw a number nine on a ceiling and go to the other side, you get a six. But there's your inability to think in more than two dimensions shining through. If you go to the other side of the room as opposed to directly underneath it, what happens to the nine? It begins to skew. The moon does not do this. It's a solid, three-dimensional physical object and saying otherwise is in direct contradiction to the visual evidence you love so much.

Why does seeing the ISS mean it isn't in space? It's reflecting sunlight and you see it around dusk or dawn. Do you think something really big like the ISS can't reflect enough sunlight to be seen from 400km or however much further away it is? We can see the moon from reflected sunlight and it's a whopping 384000km away. We can see the planets like Mars or Venus by reflected sunlight, and those are much further away. Why do you think the ISS can't be seen in space?

If you want to claim the moon isn't 300Mm to 400Mm away, you need to find the error in this measurement. You said "we could never measure" that distance, but Scott Manley just did, and trust me, he wasn't the first.

The ISS orbits in low earth orbit, which is a circular orbit a few hundred kilometers above earth's surface. It's the lowest stable orbit.

1) Distant objects always disappear from the bottom up as distance increases. They always appear from the top down as distance decreases. This is true all the time in all environments and conditions. It is only explained by Earth being a sphere.

2) Observers above and below the equator observe totally different night skies. Above the equator, time lapse photographs show the stars appearing to rotate counter clockwise around a point close to Polaris, and the southern cross is never seen. Below the equator, these photographs show the stars appearing to rotate clockwise around a point close to the southern cross, and Polaris is never seen. Taken on the equator, these photos show no rotation at all, instead stars appear to move in straight east/west lines across the sky. This is explained perfectly and simply by Earth being a rotating sphere, and cannot be explained if Earth were flat.

3) the sun is observed to rise from behind the eastern horizon every day, pass across the sky, and sets behind the western horizon. It stays the same apparent size all day. This proves that day/night cycles are not caused by the sun moving about over a flat surface (because if it were, we would observe it starting very small at dawn, getting larger until midday, then receding into being very small at dusk) and that Earth is a rotating sphere.

That's simply wrong. We can see satellites with telescopes and balloons are way too close, they're only up 30 to 40 miles, then they explode.
You can extrapolate the direction of satellite dishes all around the globe and they will all meet in 36.000 kilometers distance, the geostationary orbit.
Was done several times. Btw if you extrapolate the direction of the satellite dishes on a supposed flat earth they never meet and all point into different directions.

The human eye can resolve down to 1 arcminute. So Everest should be visible from Japan. It isn't. Why? Satellites do not exist. NASA does use 'sataloons', which are high floating balloons that can stay up in the air for 6 months at a time. Ham radio operators have known for decades that their signals bounce off the ionosphere, or the firmament dome, technology today is much better where these signals can be bounced off and called satellite technology. I will say that satellite technology sometimes really sucks, stuck TV picture, buffering, etc and is not always reliable,,i.e satellite TV.

@Professor Taboo again, we know satellites are real and the earth is a sphere, we have measured starlight being bent by the sun which is only possible due to gravity. Anything orbiting earth is a satellite, the moon is a natural satellite, the satellite network is the only way some people get internet without cable.

anyone want to explain the chicago skyline visible from Indiana Dunes 50 miles away. 8"/mile squared. there is video of the skyline from a boat and they drive towards the skyline, doesn't shift, fade, turn upside down.

Anyone want to explain why there’s only one photograph of the Chicago skyline taken across Lake Michigan? Explain why there aren’t millions of photographs of things that shouldn’t be visible based on the flat earth maths of 8” per mile squared? Anyone want to explain why flat earthers don’t have a live feed of Chicago so that they can prove their claim? Any explanation why this proof of Earth being flat is limited to one single solitary photograph?

Also very meteorologist including every weatherman at every news station that knows how weather happens. Every oceanographer and every seismologist, every software engineer that works on a GPS or location app, every pilot and every surveyor, every military personnel that deals with missiles or long distance navigation, every telecom engineer, all submarine navigators, seismologists, air traffic controllers, anyone that lays cable over a long distance, planetarium operators, large telescope operators. All of these people need deep understanding of the curvature of the earth to do their job and they would all be “in” on it. We are talking roughly 50 - 100 million people around the world are in on the conspiracy

No, satellite phones work anywhere they can pick up a signal from a satellite. Normal phones use towers.

Nice strawman. Pressure requires a container. Water at rest lays flat. You can't find curve or detect spin. Pointing at the lights in the sky is not proof of your globe.

The surface of the Earth gets in the way of distant objects. Mechanical gyrocompasses wouldn't work on a stationary Earth. Weather balloons regularly measure air pressure of less than 0.1 PSI at significant altitude. The Earth is not flat, not stationary and there's a vacuum up there with no barrier between it and the 14.7 PSI at sea level.
