Monday Morning
Fleetwood Mac Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Monday morning you sure look fine
Friday I got travelin' on my mind
First you love me and then you fade away
I can't go on believin' this way
I got nothing but love for you
Tell me what you really want to do
First you love me, then you get on down the line
But I don't mind, I don't mind, yeah

I'll be there if you want me to
No one else that could ever do
Got to get some peace in my mind

Monday morning you sure look fine
Friday I got travelin' on my mind
First you love me and then you say it's wrong
You know I can't go on believing for long

But you know it's true
You only want me when I get over you
First you love me, then you get on down the line
But I don't mind, no, I don't mind, yeah

I'll be there if you want me to
No one else that could ever do
Got to get some peace in my mind

But you know it's true
You know you only want me when I get over you
First you love me, then you get on down the line
But I don't mind, no, I don't mind, yeah

I'll be there if you want me to

No one else that could ever do
Got to get some peace in my mind

Overall Meaning

Monday Morning by Fleetwood Mac is a classic rock song that was released in 1975 as part of their self-titled album. The song is about the confusion and mixed feelings of the singer, who is torn between his desire for someone who keeps fading away and his need for peace of mind. The song starts off by describing Monday morning as looking fine, which is usually not how one feels at the start of a workweek. This line could be interpreted in a number of ways, but it could be seen as a symbol for how the singer is trying to put on a brave face and act like everything is okay, despite the turmoil inside.

The lyrics then go on to talk about how the singer has someone on his mind, but he also wants to travel on Friday. This line could be seen as the singer's attempt to escape his problems by going somewhere else. The lyrics then talk about how the person he loves keeps fading away and how he can't go on believing this way. The singer then asks the person what they really want to do, which could be seen as his attempt to get some clarity and resolution.

Love how Lindsey & Mic tear the song apart, playing riffs out of sequence and then rolling into the song.... bonus points for an extremely creative way to rehearse before performing. .

Andrew Kerr

Lindsay is a phenomenal guitar player. Pure finger picking; no plectrum; like Mark Knopfler. Terrific underrated guitarist.

Richard Ernsberger

@utbabee Five big talents, to be sure--but Buckingham certainly was the driving force and the one who arranged all (or most) of FM's songs--and he's always been brilliant at using his guitar work to enhance the pieces.

@Pete Krolczyk He's said that he never had a lesson.

And that fucking Stevie got him kicked out of the band. Without him she woul be a waitress

Can halen was self taught also

Davan Mani

Don Fushtey that’s why he had a good career. Mick and John would try to ante or control him up by comparing him to Peter but Lindsay knew who he was and what he could do. They wanted him to metal up like Randy Rhoads but he wouldn’t do it. That’s where the clash came.

He always will be the front man of Fleetwood Mac. Way too unique to be replaced. The band is in the pocket with Lindsay.

@Lee Williams Worse, because Edge doesn't sing.

Peter Green was pretty good too
