My brain on the ground
It's a dull day
Standing tall
Look down on us all.
It's a gut ache
I can't leave now
And another day is on its way
It's no good, it's no good for me
I don't want it, don't want it
It's not good, it's no good for me
I don't want it, we don't want it
It's no good
I don't want it, don't want it
It's no good, it's no good for me
The opening lines "Waiting around, my brain on the ground, it's a dull day" perfectly captures the feeling of ennui and frustration that comes with feeling stuck in a situation you can't leave. The singer feels trapped in their current circumstances, unable to move forward or make any progress. The phrase "my brain on the ground" suggests that their mind is weighed down by this feeling, as if it's causing physical pain. The second verse describes the feeling of being looked down on, as if someone or something is judging the singer and finding them wanting. This only adds to their feelings of despair and hopelessness.
The repeated refrain "I don't want it, don't want it, it's no good, it's no good for me" reinforces the sense of dissatisfaction and disconnection. The singer is rejecting something - whether that be a person, a situation, or a feeling - because it's not serving them well. The final lines "we don't want it, it's no good" suggests that this feeling is shared by others, and that the situation is potentially larger than just the singer's personal circumstances. The overall tone is one of frustration and disillusionment, with a sense of desperation creeping in by the end.
