And I, I called you up, got scared and hung up
And I'm not sure if I can understand the pain
That held you back, that held you back, oh
Take me away
I feel okay
Come back some other day
Please smile, from the start you've played the part
Your smile, I gave you the heart you're tearing apart
Your smile, took me in but it's no friend
Take me away
I feel okay
Come back some other day
Take me away
I feel okay
Come back some other day
But can't you see
You're taking it out
You're taking it out on me
I was wondering if you were still awake
And I wasn't the one who held you back
Take me away
I feel okay
Come back some other day
Take me away
I fell okay
Come back some other day
Take me away
I feel okay
Come back some other day
Take me away
I feel okay
Come back some other day
In "Some Other Day" by Flick, the singer reaches out to someone who has been holding back due to pain they've experienced. The singer calls the person up and gets scared, hanging up the phone before they can have a conversation. They wonder if the person is still awake and express their confusion about not being able to fully understand the pain that held the person back. The chorus features the repeated line "Take me away, I feel okay, come back some other day," indicating the desire to escape the current situation and hoping for a better future.
The second verse focuses more on the other person's smile, and how it can make the singer feel better, but ultimately they feel like that smile is tearing them apart because it's not genuine. The outro of the song brings back the chorus with an added line, "but can't you see, you're taking it out, you're taking it out on me," revealing that the other person's pain is being projected onto the singer.
Overall, the song explores themes of pain, confusion, and the desire to escape or find resolution. Through the use of repetition in the chorus and the building of tension in the verses, Flick offers a powerful expression of their emotions and their attempt to reach out to someone.
