The band consists of Charles McSorley (lead vocals), Jack Winn (guitar, vocals), Jake Lees (bass, vocals), Billy Fielding (drums, backing vocals), and Sam Malynowsky (keyboards), all good friends for years. Asked about their inspirations, Fling's frontman McSorley answers "I think we all share the love of the classics, pretty much any Beatles, The Clash, David Bowie, The Sex Pistols, The Kinks, Oasis and other such artists’ albums constantly inspire us and will do forever I think. Just all the good stuff basically."
So far, Fling are something of a British pearl sprawling onto the musical scene, with continuous local gigs around Bradford, festival appearances and 6 (as of March 4th, 2018) singles available via streaming devices. Their latest track, "Banjo Billy", debuted worldwide on March 2nd, 2018.

I'm Fine
Fling Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'd like to say hello I'd like to say a lot of things but I think I better go
I brought the celebration in a bag
To lift all the complications we had
I'm no angel but I'm really not that bad
But I'm fine
And I tell you that I'm fine
Everybody thinks I'm crazy it's too late for you to save me
It's to let for you to save me
In the opening lines of "I'm Fine" by Fling, the singer initiates with a friendly greeting, expressing their desire to communicate openly, yet ultimately deciding to retreat. The imagery of bringing a celebration in a bag implies a whimsical attempt to alleviate the tensions and difficulties that had previously existed. The singer acknowledges their imperfections by stating they are "no angel," yet also asserts their inherent goodness by affirming that they are "not that bad." This juxtaposition hints at a sense of self-awareness and a desire for understanding and acceptance.
The chorus of the song, where the singer repeatedly insists that they are "fine" while also admitting to lying, reveals a complex emotional state. Despite outwardly projecting a facade of well-being, the singer conveys a deeper inner turmoil and a sense of isolation. The repetition of the phrase "I'm fine" highlights a disconnect between their outward appearance and inner reality, suggesting a struggle with vulnerability and a fear of being perceived as weak or troubled by others.
The line "Everybody thinks I'm crazy, it's too late for you to save me" underscores a sense of resignation and alienation. The singer feels misunderstood and perhaps judged by those around them, leading to a profound sense of isolation and hopelessness. The refusal of help or salvation implies a deep-seated belief that they are beyond rescue or redemption, trapped in their own internal struggles and unable to break free from societal perceptions or personal demons.
Overall, the lyrics of "I'm Fine" by Fling delve into themes of emotional concealment, self-deception, and the struggle with inner demons. The juxtaposition of surface-level cheerfulness with underlying pain and isolation creates a poignant commentary on the complexities of human emotions and the facades we often present to the world. Through poignant imagery and introspective lyrics, the song explores the tension between outward appearances and inner turmoil, inviting listeners to contemplate the masks we wear and the battles we fight behind closed doors.
