Beep
Flipturn Lyrics

Check your pulse, bite your tongue, to make sure
That you're feeling
Paranoid
Go in mine, melt it down, think too much
Overheating
So blame it on me
Yeah run your mouth
The speed of sound
You talk too loud
And you won't put down
Your guns to the ground
Lock and load
Sweaty hands pull a trigger that's cold
Bitter freezing
Take your aim
Set your sights on my thoughts and my brain
Patient breathing
So blame it on me
Yeah run your mouth
High energy
The speed of sound
You talk too loud
And you won't put down
Your guns to the ground
Move on, move on, move on, move on
Move on, move on, move on
Move on, move on, move on, move on
Move on, move on, move on
Well move on, move on, move on, move on
Move on, move on, move on
The lyrics of Flipturn's song Beep, seem to imply a struggle with anxiety and paranoia, as the first verse commands to "check your pulse, bite your tongue" and "go in mine (your head)", indicating an attempt to gauge and control one's anxiety or concern. The line "paranoid" reinforces this interpretation, and the following phrase "think too much, overheating" could suggest an overactive or overwhelmed mind. The chorus then presents a blame game, with the singer taking responsibility for the unnamed protagonist's stress and verbal aggressiveness, saying to "blame it on me" and that they "talk too loud, won't put their guns to the ground". The second verse then goes on to describe a scene of someone aiming at the singer's thoughts and brain, whilst the chorus repeats its mantra of energy, loudness and blame, suggesting an ongoing struggle between the two parties.
The song's structure and sound also reinforces the theme of anxiety and frenzy, with a fast-paced guitar riff, repetitive drum beats and high-pitched vocals. The use of onomatopoeic elements such as "beep" and "check your pulse" reinforce the sense of urgency and distress, whilst the song's title can be interpreted as a reference to the sound of a heart monitor or a warning signal. The repetition of "move on" in the final verse could be interpreted as a call to action or to leave the anxiety behind, striving to overcome the paranoia and strain.

on August
This is what Dillon said in an interview about the song: "August is based off a relationship I had in my life where things seemed to only work out in the month of August. In that month everything was perfect and seemed like it would last forever. Yet outside that one month everything would fall apart until ironically the next August. The song is supposed to reflect on how in life we come across people that at times are the closest people to us and know us better than anyone, then at another they become complete strangers."
