When I was 18, I sang this song for my granddad before he died at one of the parties we threw to send him off (he had prostate cancer and it spread everywhere). Someone asked if anyone wanted to sing and I didn't even think about the lyrics. It was just the first song I thought to sing. I closed my eyes and sang maybe half of the song and when I opened my eyes, all of my family members were crying. I didn't realize that this was me telling my papa that we loved him and needed him but we would be alright when he passed. I know Lauryn has a different meaning to this song but I will always remember this as the first and last song I sang to my papa❤

When I first heard this song I was blown away. So powerful. So moving. So honest. So vulnerable.
