Flogging Molly has released six major studio albums, Swagger, Drunken Lullabies, Within a Mile of Home, Float, Speed of Darkness, and Life is Good as well as an independent live album entitled Alive Behind the Green Door. Also, they released a CD/DVD combo entitled Whiskey On A Sunday, which included a CD with acoustic tracks of many of the band's songs and a brand new studio track, "Laura". They have toured with the Warped Tour and Larry Kirwan's American Fléadh Festival. They also contributed to the Rock Against Bush project. Also, as of late they have done extensive touring with the self proclaimed Gypsy punk band, Gogol Bordello, which is also signed under SideOneDummy Records.
Their music is heavily influenced by such bands as The Pogues,The Dubliners, Johnny Cash and ranges from boisterous punk rock like the pirate-themed "Salty Dog" and "Seven Deadly Sins," or the defiant "What's Left of the Flag" and "Rebels of the Sacred Heart" to more somber songs like "Far Away Boys", "The Sun Never Shines (On Closed Doors)", or "Death Valley Queen". In the Whiskey On A Sunday DVD King describes the band's music as a '21st century version of The Dubliners.'
The driving forces behind the music tend to be Dave King's gravelly voice and Bridget's manic fiddling. Prior to forming Flogging Molly, Dave King was the vocalist for Fastway, a late 80s-early 90s heavy metal band, featuring guitarist Eddie Clarke of Motörhead.
The band released a DVD and a full-length album entitled "Whiskey on a Sunday" on July 25th 2006.
The DVD "Whiskey on a Sunday" contains a two hour documentary that gives viewers insight into how the band members found each other and also talks about the members' attitude towards life, events that have shaped their lives and their motivation for making music.
The band released "Float" on March 4, 2008. It includes the band's first two chart hits: "Requiem for a Dying Song" (#35 Billboard Modern Rock) and "Float" (#40 on the same chart). During the tour for the album, vocalist Dave King married the band's fiddle player Bridget Regan in Tokyo, Japan.
The Speed of Darkness Songfacts says the band's fifth album, Speed of Darkness was released on May 31, 2011 by the band's own record label, Borstal Beat Records. The set was recorded at Echo Mountain, an old church building turned recording studio in Asheville, North Carolina. It was produced by Ryan Hewitt, who has also worked with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Avett Brothers.
Life Is Good is the name of the sixth studio album by Flogging Molly that was released on 2 June 2017. Their first studio album in 6 years (following 2011's Speed of Darkness), it is also their first album to feature drummer Mike Alonso.

The Story So Far
Flogging Molly Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
So leave it behind
And if the glass isn't broken
Then the futures not blind
All that you know means nothing to you
But its the loss of control shatters the truth
[Chorus]
It's already here
We've made it this far
Sure we battled the spears
But life cuts to pieces
To the wounds from the secrets
Makes it all who you are
Love craves self destruction
It's a blizzard in hand
Lay your cards ion the table
But you're not in command
So burn with the fire
You so eagerly lit
Watch the flames flicker higher
Said I don't care about you
[Chorus]
Oh it's bitter the pill
That you swallow to feel
I don't care what I lost
I just thank god I'm alive
Makes it all who you are [x5]
The lyrics of Flogging Molly's song The Story So Far are open to interpretation, but they seem to be about a person who has everything they could want but feels like they have lost control of their life. The first verse suggests that the person has achieved their goals and has everything they ever wanted, but they are still unhappy. The line "All that you know means nothing to you" implies that the person is struggling with a sense of meaninglessness.
The chorus of the song suggests that the story of this person's life is already written and that they have come a long way despite obstacles they have faced. "Sure we battled the spears" might be a reference to fighting against adversaries or obstacles, but the wounds from the struggle don't keep the person down. These wounds "make it all who you are," which could be interpreted as saying that it is the tough times in life that shape us into who we are meant to be.
Line by Line Meaning
You always had what you wanted
You were accustomed to getting everything you desire
So leave it behind
However, it's time to let go of the past
And if the glass isn't broken
If everything is still perfect on the surface
Then the futures not blind
You can't see the potential future struggles coming
All that you know means nothing to you
The lifestyle you're used to doesn't bring satisfaction anymore
But its the loss of control shatters the truth
No longer being in control of what you have takes away its value
[Chorus]
Here's the story of our journey thus far
It's already here
We've already gone through hardships - they've already arrived
We've made it this far
We've pushed through against all odds thus far
Sure we battled the spears
We've fought in battles against our enemies
But life cuts to pieces
Life throws obstacles our way that tears us apart inside
To the wounds from the secrets
The hidden truths we carry around hurts us even more
Makes it all who you are
These struggles shape us and make us who we are
Love craves self destruction
Love can bring us down in the long run
It's a blizzard in hand
It's hard to grasp our emotions when in love
Lay your cards ion the table
Be honest and truthful about your emotions
But you're not in command
Despite your best efforts, sometimes it all goes wrong
So burn with the fire
Get caught up in the passion and excitement
You so eagerly lit
You may regret it later, but in the moment it felt good
Watch the flames flicker higher
Feelings intensify, and it's hard to back out
Said I don't care about you
Despite the emotions, sometimes you just have to be realistic
[Chorus]
Here's the story of our journey thus far
Oh it's bitter the pill
The truth can hurt in the moment
That you swallow to feel
But it's necessary to face the truth to emotionally grow
I don't care what I lost
Accepting the past for what it is
I just thank god I'm alive
Being grateful for the journey so far and looking forward to what's ahead
Makes it all who you are
Our struggles shape and mold us into who we are

This song is powerful,
I believe it talks about experiences.
The first stage is talking about future, "If the glass isn't broken, then the future is not blind"
I believe it means that if there is vision for the future, if you know where you are heading, then the future and the path is clear and you will get there in time. "all that you know means nothing to you but it's the loss of control that shatters the truth" Is anxiety for reaching future, all of our own thoughts mean nothing to us, because how can they be heading for the right direction?, causing a self discontrol and becoming a lie, a fake mirror created by ourselves.
"cause the story so far is already here we've made it this far through the daggered edge spears but life cuts to pieces till the wounds hold no secrets makes it all who you are"
The chorus talks about the moment. all that has come to that one single point. even though there are obstacles, the momentary objective has been reached. but every obstacle, every problem, and battle, has marked its way through ourselves, showing no secret, and these are the things that makes us who we are.
The second stage is love. "love craves self destruction it's a blizzard in hand you lay your cards on the table but you're not in command so burn with the fire you so eagerly lit watch the flames flicker higher say i don't care about me."
Loving someone brings self destruction, is a catastrophe we bring to ourselves, even though everything is done to not break a relationship, you are not in command and anything can damage that union, ending with a heart break. So the pain you feel is brought by the passion (fire) and the time spend on that relationship until it becomes so harmful you end up not caring about yourself.
"though it's bitter the pill that you swallow to feel i don't care what i lost i just thank god i'm alive"
This part concludes the song , the dosis of reality someone can take through the years can be harmful. With every experience you feel different, but those that did more harm on you, are the ones that really make you feel and remember. Learning from that experience is the objective, not caring of how you got in there, but to give thanks of what you have lived and that all those obstacles have not overwhelmed you, but being alive, and ready to continue, is something to be grateful about.

" I don't care what I lost, I just thank God I'm alive", kills me every time I hear this song. It sends chills through me. Kinda puts things in my life in perspective.

I've been drinking hard for 22 years. To be awake and sober, this has special meaning to me. "This is the day that the Lord has made, / let us rejoice and be glad in it." Go in peace.

How are these guys not all over the place, I can't find a bad song. They have such range from loud and fast songs that really get you going, to slow songs that are so extremely meaningful. Cant get enough of em.
