Blinding
Florence + the Machine Lyrics

Seems that I have been held, in some dreaming state
A tourist in the waking world, never quite awake
No kiss, no gentle word could wake me from this slumber
Until I realize that it was you who held me under

Felt it in my fist, in my feet, in the hollows of my eyelids
Shaking through my skull, through my spine and down through my ribs

No more dreaming of the dead as if death itself was undone
No more calling like a crow for a boy, for a body in the garden
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love with the wrong world

And I could hear the thunder and see the lightning crack
And all around the world was waking, I never could go back
'Cause all the walls of dreaming, they were torn right open
And finally it seemed that the spell was broken

And all my bones began to shake, my eyes flew open
And all my bones began to shake, my eyes flew open

No more dreaming of the dead as if death itself was undone
No more calling like a crow for a boy, for a body in the garden
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love with the wrong world

Snow white's stitching up the circuit boards
Synapse's slipping through the hidden door
Snow white's stitching up your circuit board

No more dreaming of the dead as if death itself was undone
No more calling like a crow for a boy, for a body in the garden
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love with the wrong world

Snow white's stitching up the circuit boards
Synapse's slipping through the hidden door
Snow white's stitching up your circuit board
Synapse's slipping through the hidden door

This song can never be loud enough. You want the drums to literally rattle your bones.

if you've ever loved a narcissist then this song makes sense. the gaslighting... it's like you live in a fog and they're guiding you, you don't trust reality, only what they say is real and you're insane. they push you to a very localized insanity. you don't recognize yourself, your family doesn't recognize you. it happens so slowly you don't realize it. and if you begin to come up for air they'll shove you right back down and connect a respirator from their mouth to yours. it's an insidious hell.

THIS! When this song came out it would be my anthem for leaving an NPD relationship a year later. Fast forward to this infernal year and yet more time spent on toxic, selfish people... I was again reminded of this song and it always fits. I'm learning now to heal and care for myself instead of throwing myself away, or throwing myself at those who aren't willing or able to make the same sacrifices for the partnership.

I was raised by one. It's exactly like that. If for example my father would tell me the grass is blue not green. Eventhough I knew in my head it wasn't I would agree and just accept his words as if he was god. Not because I wanted to but because I knew if I didn't he would mentally break me until I would accept it and you just get so tired of fighting it. However even just giving in isn't enough for them. They wanna feel like they won like they conquered you. They will push until you're on your knees as even then that's sometimes not enough. he would constantly belittle me, tell me I was nothing, that everything was always my fault.
I had to cut off all contact because even the smallest slither of contact was like a drop of poison. I never spoke to him again. I figured if I don't give him any words then he can't twist them because there's nothing to twist.
So many people don't understand what it's like to live/grow up with one.
Even the school councelor, after I explained all the sick shit he did to me and my mother, was like: How about we invite him for a dialogue.
When I told her I didn't want to she kept pushing and I just got so scared because if he found out I ruined his perfect image I knew there would be hell to pay.
I ended up dropping out of high school cause the councelor did end up speaking with my dad and he twisted it all around to the point where she literally told me the exact same words my dad told me all my life. I was the problem, I didn't fit in, I was a troublemaker and they couldn't deal with me. (Eventhough I had never even once gotten into trouble in the 5 years I went to school there.). School used to be my escape (At least during the time I was with my mum.) and he had ruined that for me too. It scared me so much. It was like he truly was a god and no one would ever believe me.
