Shot You Down
Florrie Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I shot him down down down down down down down down
(repeat x 10)

I pulled the trigger on our love
Keep messing me around
Got my finger on the gun
Bang bang I shot you down
(repeat x 6)

Left right
(repeat x 4)

I think about it everyday
I shouldn’t have hurt you that way
But it’s a little late to say
That I can erase your heartache

Thinking about it
Thinking about it
Thinking about it
Oooooh baby
(repeat x 4)

I pulled the trigger on our love
Keep messing me around
Got my finger on the gun

Bang bang I shot you down
(repeat x 5)

Overall Meaning

The song "Shot You Down" by Florrie talks about ending a toxic relationship. When the singer says "I shot him down down down down down down down down," it's a metaphor describing how she figuratively "shot down" the relationship, ultimately ending it. She admits to having hurt the person she was with and shares that she thinks about it every day. She acknowledges that it's too late to erase the hurt she caused, but she still contemplates the situation.

The singer took control of the situation by saying "I pulled the trigger on our love" and will no longer let the other person keep messing her around. The repetition of "Bang bang I shot you down" signifies her power and control in the situation. The consistent use of the phrase "thinking about it" and the repetition of "left right" could represent the internal struggle the singer is going through.

Overall, "Shot You Down" is a powerful song about taking control of a toxic relationship and ending it.

When is she gonna blow up? because she's seriously one of the best out there; total package, and a sweet girl at the same time. Great voice, great look, her lyrics are relatable and catchy and they have their own signature sound, she's a musician, she has a presence. Seriously, wtf is on the radio now. They need to put this into rotation and add some flavor to such a dull atmosphere; the pop world needs a darling like Florrie, she's never been anything but fresh as fuck and I adore her •♡
