Game Over
Flowers For Breakfast Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
With one blue eye
And about the blue eye
There's nothing left to say
All the attention goes to Richie
One day he went swimming in the neighbour's swimming pool
And died when the electric cover came over
Game over
Game over
Anyway, all the attention goes to Harry
He's been commemorated several times
But they never told me
That he's been driven to death by the wrong car
By the wrong car
Game over
Game over
In Flowers For Breakfast's song "Game Over," the singer introduces us to a character named Barry who is described as a "happy guy" with one blue eye. However, the singer quickly dismisses the significance of Barry's blue eye by stating "there's nothing left to say." Instead, the singer draws our attention to Richie, who seemingly became the center of attention after his tragic death. The song recounts how one day Richie went swimming in a neighbor's pool only to unexpectedly die when an electric cover came over. The event is a reminder that no matter how carefree or happy one may seem, life can be unpredictable and fragile.
Despite Richie's tragic death, the song shifts the focus back to another character named Harry, who has been "commemorated several times." The singer goes on to reveal that Harry was actually driven to death by the wrong car, which adds another layer to the song's commentary on life's unpredictability. The repeated phrase "game over" serves as a metaphor for the finality of death, and the song implies that life can feel like a game with unexpected twists and turns that can ultimately lead to its end.
