Every time you are near
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you
On the day that you were born
The angels got together
And decided to create a dream come true
In your hair of gold
And starlight in your eyes of blue
That is why all the girls in town
Follow you all around
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you
Close to you, you
Can I get close to you, to you
The song "Close To You" by Floyd Cramer and his Piano and Orchestra is a classic love song that conveys the emotional intimacy that one feels when they are near to their beloved. The lyrics beautifully portray the fascination and attraction that the singer has towards his love interest. The opening lines of the song, "Why do birds suddenly appear, every time you are near?" suggest that the singer feels that nature is also responding to the presence of his beloved and is showing its appreciation by surrounding them with beauty.
The second stanza of the song further amplifies this message of nature's appreciation for his beloved. It speaks of how the angels got together on the day of his beloved's birth to create a dream come true by sprinkling moon dust in her hair of gold and starlight in her eyes of blue. This lyrical metaphor conveys the idea that she is a unique and magical individual, who is well-loved by all, and is capable of inspiring wonder and awe in everything around her.
To sum up, "Close To You" is a beautiful love song that speaks of the singer's fascination and attraction towards his beloved. It conveys the idea that everything around his beloved recognizes her beauty and is drawn towards her. The lyrics provide a wonderful representation of the magic and beauty of love in a simple yet poetic manner.

Listened to him on a country station in Florida back in 1986 - His music takes me all the way home to Brooklyn NY which I miss the good old days. My Mom & Dad approved of him and always told me to turn the radio up when he came on. I'm very glad to be listening to Floyd Cramer today on You Tube.

I started listening to this great man in the early 60s when Dad & I was going fishing. Crossing two ferries on Norfork Lake in AR. we heard him play JAVA every time! Wow! I have loved his playing now for nearly 70 years!
