1997 was the year I turned 21. I also met my wife that year. a life time has passed and now I'm a father to a beautiful 4 year old daughter - she decided to make a grand , albeit late, appearance to life. Better late than never. Those years were carefree and simple compared to today.

Just heard the guitar player from the Wallflowers passed away from complications from diabetes. I'm very sorry for his loved ones. No one should lose a loved one too soon, at least not from this disease that the medical world should have been able to reverse decades ago.
This is one of my all time favorite songs for a few decades now. Can't go on a road trip without playing it several times full blast. Come hear several times a year to listen and get nostalgic. ❤🙏😥

I remember the first time I heard this song. My dad and I were working on an old car in my uncle's body shop on a Sunday evening. The reason I remember it so vividly is because my uncle had bought an old truck to restore, and it had one headlight. I was 14 at the time. Hmm. An interesting interpretation. However, I think I'd disagree, in the sense that no band in the world plans on only have one hit song. Their goal would be to have lots of hits, and be around for a long time, so....there's really no way to interpret a one-hit wonder band except as a failure, because they have failed at their goal.

Not trying to be rude, I just think any band that is one-hit wonder band has failed.

Plus, isn't the guy in this band Leonard Cohen's son? I never really am able to have any respect for people like that, who try to ride on their father's coat tails.

Yes The Wallflowers make me think of the 1990's. It will most likely remain my favorite decade of my life. College, the killer parties, the hot women, my first serious career type of job, and all the insanely great bands (music and concerts. It's amazing how a single song can take you back to an exact moment in time. This entire album got me through several long nights studying in high-school. How in the hell was that 18 years ago?! This song reminds me of a time when my son was 18 years old, and driving with one headlight and he didn't know it. Anyway, he was pulled over by the police and got a ticket for a small amount of marijuana he and his friend had. My son committed suicide in June 2020, he was 36. This was the last song my Doggy ever heard me sing. I jam downstairs in the basement and it annoys him. The day before he died, he came downstairs as I was singing this song, rehearsing for a gig. Zach never wanted anything to do with the basement. The drums were too loud. But this time he showed up. I picked him up and petted him and said hi. Now every time I play it onstage with my band, I dedicate it to him. Dog's are truly man's best friend. In 1997, when I was 23, I hopped into a car with $386, a bag of clothes, and two people I barely knew. We drove from Detroit to California, and for some weird reason, while driving through the desert, whenever we couldn’t tune the car radio into a station, this song would be there. I wasn’t even sure what direction I wanted to go in. What I ended up discovering was that I’m better suited for places like Chicago or New York. It was too— ‘smile in your face while holding this knife behind my back’ —out there, and I really struggled with that. I’ll bet if we had aimed for someplace other than LA, I would’ve felt differently, but that’s not what we did. The two people I was with had plans for LA, so there we were. I loved the ocean, and enjoyed some of the night life here and there, but in general, I didn’t like the people. Every other young, pretty girl I met just saw me, and one another, as a threat. It was hard to cultivate real relationships out there. I guess I’m a person who requires a certain level of authenticity in my peers. It was too... dog eat dog.

God is deadly serious about sin, when we genuinely repent we hate sin just as God hates it, and we turn away from it.
"But God commended His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR YOUR SINS, WAS BURIED, AND THAT GOD RAISED JESUS FROM THE DEAD. This is trusting with all of your heart that Jesus Christ is who he said he was. He saves us from sin and hell and brings us into a relationship with him. We become God's children. We are saved from hell, eternal death.
"For whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13 CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD. Every single person who ever lived since Adam will bend their knee and confess with their mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings.
Read the Bible, Walk with the Lord and give your life to Him!

My BF ,in the 90;s, laughed when I was pulled over with One Headlight working on my truck. I got out of the ticket because I had just bought a new headlight. This song was blasting from my CD player ( He had just bought the CD that afternoon!).

The 90's were my teenage years. They were awful, and magical. Every moment felt so important and profound. It felt like I had something powerful and big inside of me. Today I'm 40 and the importance, magic, and power are all gone. The only thing left these days are the awful. Enjoy the moments that feel like they will last for ever.

I'm 35 years old and I feel this comment. For me it was a love hate relationship with my youth. It was the worst and the best of times. I was a loner and had bad anxiety. Yet, I was playing sports, taking art classes and still trying to be a young teenager. I'm okay now. Much better.
