Absurd (Adam Freeland & ILS re
Fluke Lyrics

King Kong in Cannes
On a date with Spider-Man
Dan Dare's sitting there
Scared by the killer teddy bears
Downtown Minnie Mouse
Is slippin' mickies in the famous grouse
While Big Bird spreads the word
Anybody with a heart votes love

Judge Dredd found dead
Face down in Snoopy's bed
Outside Tweetie Pie's
Getting itchy on more supplies
Meanwhile Snow White
Gets ready for work tonight
Turning tricks with crystal tips
Trying to make the best of it's absurd

Puppy dogs and pussy cats
In suspect suicide attacks
Captain Kirk from planet earth
Fights it out with Papa Smurf
Some phoney Little Ponies
Preying on the old and lonely
Making friends robbing them
The X-Men taught them everything

Betty Boop's tired of life
Took vows became a bride of Christ
While Tin Tin's been playing in
Caesar's palace live on ice
Babar Kumbayahs
With the Mighty Morphin' movie stars

As Big Bird spreads the word
Anybody with a heart votes love

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Fluke's song "Absurd" paint a picture of a chaotic and surreal world where popular culture icons and childhood symbols collide in absurd situations. The song critiques the emptiness of consumer culture and the dehumanizing effects of capitalism by depicting a world where every character is jaded or corrupted in some way.

In the first verse, we see that even the most powerful and important characters have lost their authority and are struggling to make sense of their surroundings. King Kong, a symbol of masculine power, is on a date with Spider-Man, a vulnerable and misunderstood outsider. Dan Dare, a classic comic book hero, is scared by a harmless toy, and Minnie Mouse is drugging her customers in order to make a profit. Big Bird stands in as a witness to the absurdity of it all, urging people to vote with their hearts and choose love over greed and exploitation.

The second verse delves deeper into the darkness of this world, as Judge Dredd is found dead and the innocent Tweety Pie becomes a drug addict. Snow White, once pure and innocent, turns to prostitution to make ends meet, highlighting the desperation and hopelessness of those who are oppressed and marginalized in society. Even childhood favorites like Puppy Dogs and Pussy Cats are corrupted, becoming involved in suicide bombings, while Captain Kirk and Papa Smurf engage in violent and futile battles.

The song concludes with a few hopeful moments, as Betty Boop finds solace in religion and Tin Tin entertains the masses in Caesar's Palace. However, the overall message is clear: this world is absurd, and the only way to transcend it is to reject the values of consumer culture and find your own sense of purpose and meaning.
