+cam98man This video got the science VERY WRONG. First off, human eyes can detect up to 1/220 fps. Saying humans can only "see at 60 fps" is a load of garbage. The ACTUAL reason Dragonflies can react quicker is simply due to their nervous system being so much smaller.
Neuron transmission rate is the same across most animals. The signals can only travel so fast to and from the brain. This circuit is called the Neural Arc. Nerves in the eye send a signal to the brain, then the brain sends a signal to the muscles to react. This takes time, like driving down a highway. Since the Dragonfly is roughly 27 times smaller than a human, we can expect the reaction time to be roughly 27 times FASTER than a human. THAT is why the Dragonfly can react so much quicker. It's NOT because they experience time differently.

TL;DR: Again, this video got it VERY WRONG. Dragonflies react faster because they have shorter neural pathways.

I absolutely love dragonflies. In my opinion, they are the BEST wild creature to photograph for a slew of reasons, number one being that they are not extremely fidgety. Every dragonfly will hold position just long enough for you to get a wonderful picture. They come in all colors and sizes, they're found in a variety of environments, and it's just a joy to follow them and photograph them.

Dragonflies are dope. In photographing them I've seen consistent behavior in multiple insects that seem to quickly identify me as a non threat and then start to show off and pose. They'll allow me to get extremely close and will fly off and return to the same branch and just look at me. They seem to have a deeper intelligence.

Their heart rates are much faster too, such as with hunming birds. They are the fasting wing flappers in the world, can fly in any direction, even upside down, but their heart beat is 1200 beats per second. A human would die from just 220 beats per second.
The faster your heartrate, the faster you move and process information. When we humans sleep, our heart rate can be as low as 40 beats per minute.

Today I saw a dragonfly for the very first time. I didn't even know these insects existed. The way it flapped its wings and changed positions in the air look so unnatural and robotic, to the point I thought someone was spying on me with some sort of a tiny high tech drone. It came near me while I was swiming in the open sea, checked me out for a few seconds, and as soon as I blinked it was already gone!!! I was so impressed I had to do a research on it and I'm glad I found this video. 😁

Human vision isn't even in frames, it's in average light over a time, it's why you see an after image when you shake your hands and why spinning a led bar can work as a clock.

I also remember reading a report from US military where they experimented with FPS screend and it concluded that humans will notice a difference in screen Hz as long as it at least doubles, and they did tests on several thousand Hz screens.

Exactly, we do not see individual frames, but we notice if the frames are skipping or stuttering. Dragobfliea and cats can actuallybsee every individual frame to the next. 60 frames to them would look like 10 or 15 fps to us.

i was sitting on a stool working on some damage on the side of my truck. a large blue dragonfly flew up and hovered about 6" away from my face at eye level for what seemed like 7 or 8 seconds just looking in my eyes and i back at it then it flew off. it was curious and wanted a close up look into my eyes. it was soo big and beautiful and had such control of its flight. it was a wondrous experience for me and i will never forget it.

If we rewired our brains to see at this speed imagine what the contrast to our daily life would be like. Every second would take twice as long simply because we had foreknowledge of how quick a second was. If our hearing didn't change we could hear the future.
