I don't know how people could not like this song if they truly dig Fly Lo's previous material. He's progressing as a musician, and I love how he's digging through old prog rock vinyl and keeping that jazz fusion and soul vibe I love about him. What other electronic artist plays with Jazz musicians? Even more excited about his new album now. Preordering it on Warp as we speak.

I've been following this guy since he first started, and all I can say is wow. Seems like any time I hear a new piece from him, he incorporates a new type of sound that I can adapt to for some reason. I used to be a strict beat head, but hearing this today changes my whole thinking in what music is, thank you Flying Lotus.

You have to keep in mind a couple of things with Flylo. This track track has been seriously growing on me each time I hit the play button. Every time I hear something that is "New Flying Lotus" it always surprises me. Never what I expected. Always fresh and abstract. Its not a one and done listen. You have to listen to it repeatedly to get it which makes it fun. Also, FlyLo sounds best in a complete album setting. This track will make much more sense when you listen to it with the whole thing.

I agree there are definitely going to be songs on the album that I really enjoy but I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of songs like this one that feel lazy and simple in comparison to the immensely detailed, thoughtful work flylo has put out. This reminds me of many of his collabs with rappers where it feels like he is only trying to offer support to someone else's vocals and the songs come out tame and mediocre. Flylo sounds best when he is home alone trapped in his own little world.

this song is absolutely gorgeous, dreamy and slyly sexy. I understand why fans want Los Angeles or Cosmogramma Part 2 (because those records are unbelievable), but FlyLo is a constantly evolving artist, and needs to change in order to keep from being bored with his art. Anyway, I'm beyond hyped for "Until the Quiet Comes"!

I'm anxious to see what this album is like. I'm crazy for Cosmo, that's probably his most accomplished album yet imo, yet i'm also crazy for the more beat oriented LA sound, so hopefully he'lll combine the two into some crazy mystic, astral, experience. Either way, I'm not worried, FlyLo knows what he's doing. No matter what this album is like, i'll still have mad respect for FlyLo because he only does his own thing.

Wasn't 100% on this at first, but I realise it's been taken out of context and I guarantee it'll be so much better along with the rest of the album. After hearing more of the album in the new short film, I'm confident the album will be sublime, potentially his best.

Flying Lotus, Erykah Badu and many artists with similar sensibility are doing something similar to what John Coltrane, Alice, Pharoah Sanders and others did when they gave birth to spiritual jazz: they are bringing the contemporary music to a different, higher level of expression.

This is something different and i don't think its really my taste but its not a bad thing.. FlyLo has said a million times he wants to do something different each time and this is just one song. I'm sure the album will be great and i can't wait.

to all the folks hating on this... well it really is 'to each his/her own', but FlyLo keeps innovating and yet as soon as you hear anything from him you instantly detect the distinctive "FlyLo sound"... I find it amazing that he constantly creates new music but retains that signature sound. I think it takes a certain kind of talent for him to constantly change without losing himself...

I really love Erykah's voice being used almost as much as texture here. Also, remember folks: this is Flying Lotus, so even full vocal tracks are short and cut for flow. "And the World Laughs With You" was short, too, but that didn't make it an uninteresting track. I'd argue "See Thru To U" is in that same vibe.

I see not many of you will enjoy this. Especially the beat-heads don't, but be aware that this album is an evolution of Flying Lotus in terms of spiritual experiences he encountered. Try to think of it that way.He'll blow your mind with other tracks e.g. have you heard "Heave(n)" preview? It has that Los Angeles vibe, even if he'll twist it a bit.Check the video Pitchfork made. There are 3 snippets from the album and all of them sound outstanding. Give it time, listen to this a couple of times.

From what he's said on twitter, taken out of the album this song is pretty weird, but in it with all the songs before and after, it apparently flows really well. I'm not too bothered, I quite like it and Erykah is great as always.

Sonically the sounds are a bit more regular than some of his stuff before, but the actual music of the thing is hands down some of the best experimental stuff hes done. People just want to headnod, but fly lo is much more than just that.

I feel like That vocal motif from 1:16-1:22 is gonna be an ongoing motif on the album, you can hear it in the first song of the preview video and it's very strong

I think the reason why people have mixed feelings about this is because the song's last few seconds sound like a groan tube. Besides that part I thought this song brought the usual satisfying groove that FlyLo delivers. I have no doubt his new album will be on par with everything else he's released.

To be honest, I don't see any reason to comparing. But personally, I get the same mood from this as from, let's say, "Melt!" whether if it's the same "quality" or not, I like it as much. It grows on me every time. And I see this as him beginning to try sort of new ways, which I think is positive, even though he hasn't done anything bad. A development to even more jazz-influenced. But we will see when the album drops.

Sometimes music takes time to grow on you, because it's something you haven't heard before and therefore needs processing. That being said, this isn't that far away from some of the other flylo stuff I heard, so I don't really get why all the surprised reactions. Besides, flylo does what he feels anyway so you can only respect that. He's pushing boundaries from hiphop to some crazy spaced out jazz electro, sometimes the mass likes it, sometimes it doesn't. Why do I even have to explain this..

I love it.. a lot of electronic music is sort of hit and miss with me, but this is fucking cool. Better than the plain morning atmospheres of Teebs. Lots of cool textures going on.

It's all an effort to make his music seem more organic. Personally, I don't believe this is a move in the wrong direction, rather it's a move to expand his musical horizons beyond just beats and synths

After i've listened through this a couple of times i started to really like it! Cosmogramma was in my opinion a great album, but i enjoyed Los Angeles and the other EP's a little bit more. And the particular sound on this joint is def more on the Cosmogramma side, but i still enjoy it. Hopefully we will get a great blend of Los Angeles and Cosmogramma on the new record..

I've been waiting for a song to drop since I heard Flylo play it at the Cosmogramma record release show. I have a realyl crappy recording of it, but it doesn't do it justice. If it's on this album, I'll buy the vinyl and mp3 versions.

also...for WEEKS (months) I've been playing Fly-Lo's music while playing GTA IV (and even sometimes puting the mic close to the speakers and some people would ask "what song is that?" or "who is this?") and I would say, "well I DON'T want to jinx it, but his name is Flying Lotus and if you Google his name and GTA V, there is EXCELLENT news" never trying to jinx it, or saying "well he is supposed to have a radio station in GTA V but I just hope its true"...finally I can say Fly-Lo FM in GTA V :)

the problem with the song is the toms are to noted and it clashes often, I can see how that can annoy people but cmon, the vibes are still present, extremely present. I love this track! don't feel as if you can depend on this song to be a judge of the full album, think about it

I consider myself a fan o Flying Lotus but my experience of following his music is different than the one you described here VioletRock. I just happened upon it from my Dilla pandora station and then later that week bought 1983. That was the only thing that stayed in my CD player for a few months. That and my BDK cd and Midnight Marauders I also bought around that time. 1983 got me through that semester.

Surprisingly I think its Fly-Lo. I recently purchased the physical copy of this album, and when you open it, theres other underwater shots (one with a hood on) the last photo (under the disc itself) is Fly-Lo doing something underwater. They are amazing to look at. Definitely has to be Flying Lotus though because the 2nd image in the case shows him next to the water-surface and he has some golden sheet that looked almost like a tank top. but there's gold in this image too so it must be.

Probably you're right. Lots of people will have a story like this, so had I. When I first stumbled upon his work, it was the remix of Oizo's "Rubber". Pretty late, I guess, but I was an electro-only type of guy back then. Suddenly, I checked his other stuff and it opened my mind on all these amazing artists I wouldn't even have enough space to write their names in one comment or more.

I do know the Cosmogramma lovers will like this though. It seems that Flylo sees that the jazz scene allows to to go into that next dimension. that why when you see him with brainfeedere he has a slew of jazz musicians on stage (Which I love) it look so diverse. you have Flylo ( a producer), Two saxes, a Pianist, with Thundercat accompanying on the bass. what a mix. just shows that music has no limits.

Last album credits will reflect that you have already been hearing (& likely already own) collab projects on 'Maria Mexico' albums - with the talents of Flying Lotus, Thundercat, RC Williams & other uber-talented artists & have toured as band members in the past together as well.

Granted, it's likely that you mean an actual full album with just Lotus & E' together but imo, they've already done so - even on albums that didn't do as well, commercially (Music cheat: Feel free to reference the 'New Amerykah' series as a starting point - though there have been more collabs of theirs already likely in your music library)!

I just wonder if the people that really enjoyed "Los Angeles" and "1983" but didn't care for "Cosmogramma" will like this new album. It seems like FlyLo is going in that more jazzy direction.
