Snake Oil
Foals/Musicfire.in Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Oh, yeah, oh, yeah
Yay, you keep it slow
Yay yay, you keep it low, well

You sell snake oil to the butcher
The butcher's bill must always be paid
It's a wild wait to wait and it leads to no surprises
No surprise, no-one gets laid

You put the snake oil under my tongue
Show me the door, the way to be free
'Cause you know the moves that only you do
Makes fools of a boy like me, ooh, ooh

Yay
Uh

You sell snake oil to the sinners
When all they crave is just to be free
It's a wild tease, tease me with nothing better
Nothing better, slower than me

You cast a spell that keeps me wired
Keeps me red, keeps me on fire
So why do you take me down, down to nothing
Always out cold, never been higher, ooh, ooh

In the day you leave me to want what I crave
No surprise to want what I can't find
You said it again, again, again
Come on again
Driving you said
You said it again

Driving through the old county line
Where I go to find what is mine
Driving past the old county line
Where I go to find what is mine, ooh, ooh

You said it again
You give it away

In the day you leave me to want what I crave
No surprise to want what I can't find

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Foals/Musicfire.in's song Snake Oil evoke a sense of desperation and deception. The opening lines "Oh, yeah, oh, yeah, Yay, you keep it slow, Yay yay, you keep it low" almost sound like a plea for something to happen, but the rest of the lyrics paint a picture of a manipulative person selling false hope to those who are vulnerable or lost.

The lines "You sell snake oil to the butcher, The butcher's bill must always be paid" can be interpreted as the idea that those who are selling false hope will still ultimately have to face the consequences of their actions. The line "It's a wild wait to wait and it leads to no surprises, No surprise, no-one gets laid" could be seen as a comment on the emptiness that comes from investing in false promises.

The chorus, "You put the snake oil under my tongue, Show me the door, the way to be free, 'Cause you know the moves that only you do, Makes fools of a boy like me" expresses the idea that the manipulative person knows exactly how to hook their target and make them believe whatever they want. The second verse goes on to describe the idea of selling snake oil to sinners who are seeking freedom and the emptiness that comes from being teased with something that will never come to fruition.

Overall, the lyrics to Snake Oil suggest a cautionary tale about the dangers of placing too much faith in something that is, ultimately, false.

That gameplay felt soo real

William Munny

Isaiah 53.3 He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4 Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth.
Jesus Christ loves you. Repent and be saved. Only Jesus Christ saves. God bless you, and the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you and your family.

This scene is amazing, for a second i thought the film was only based on Scorpions story. That would be phenomenal, the character deserves it since he's been carrying the game for 3 decades now.

@Agent Milton , I wouldn't be so sure in your case.

Monsus

@Agent Milton , that's it? No arguments? Yeah, of course, just say "It's bad" and you'll be right. Taslim is a great actor and his interpretation of Bi-Han is the best one since... Well, ever.
