@1:03, yes. The answer is yes. I've had to go to my children's school on multiple occasions because they were "displaying unacceptable behavior". I went because I wanted to see for myself what I could do.

You know what I found out? 20+ kids in one classroom, one teacher to handle them all, and at least five of those kids continuously disrupting class (I sat in the class and watched). I feel for the teachers because they are constantly having to stop what they're doing to deal with the disruptive kids. Why might you ask? Because teachers no longer have any real authority and all they can do is threaten to send the child to the office which does no good because the child was "talked to" then sent right back to disrupt the class again.

This of course ticks me off because I feel like since I actually show up when the school calls, they always call me when my kid is in an altercation even when it's VERY CLEAR that my kid didn't initiate the squabble. What really gets me though, is if I ask to set up a meeting with the other parents to solve the problem they act like they can't be bothered to reach them.

I don't understand what they want me to do about my kid if the other kid's parents can't be bothered to show up. I guess ground him for defending himself, which I won't do. Anyway, done ranting. Yes the schools are producing dummies with the help of apathetic parents.

Oh, and I work outside the home so I'm not knocking parents that can't show up for every time their kid acts up, but it would be nice be called when we're all available not just me.

Believe me, I don't like how some LGBT people find it okay to harass people for being straight or white, or basically being "privileged". Because in the current 'woke' culture it has become acceptable to attack those who are white, cis, and straight. Hell, it practically seems like it's a requirement now. And certain politicians encourage this outright racist behavior. Like AOC's antisemitic comments. I love people of all backgrounds, but it breaks me to see how Christian groups like the Red Cross and Salvation Army are attacked by lgbt groups as being 'homophobic' and denouncing the good they do. The community is toxic as hell right now, least from what I've seen of it.

First, I don't think its so much of "I love this candidate so much" as it is "OMG, teh other candid8 is literally the devil!" I personally know a laundry list of politicians that seem like nice people, but the only one I actually trust is an octogenarian small time dairy farmer that lacks so much charisma its astounding he's gotten as far as he has. In the past eighteen years that I've been paying attention to politics with more than just a passing interest, its become more of a "lesser of two evils" than it has candidates for a job that matters, peaking with this past election between a literal turd sandwich and an equally literal douchebag.

Secondly, I had, in the past eight hours, a conversation with a nineteen year old kid that not only though Obama had served three consecutive terms already, but was eligible for re-election in 2020. I was genuinely stunned by the magnitude of his stupidity. I realize that I'm something of a rarity, being an individual that not only goes out of my way to learn, but pays attention for more time than it takes to send a Snapchat, but the utter ignorance of not only today's youth but society in general is incredibly depressing. I genuinely hope these morons get what they want. I hope they get their "free" healthcare and college. I hope they get guns banned and freedom of speech removed, religion abolished, and all the safe spaces they need for their square peg in round hole "individuality." I hope I get to watch as society completely inverts itself into its own anus, preferably with a cold drink and a comfy chair. Or maybe from an inverted pot with some puddle water and public masturbation in lieu of food. . .

Yes, there are crappy teachers out there, but there’s a few things to keep in mind: 1) kids are allowed free speech in schools, teachers have to remain neutral and be politically correct; 2) a lot of parents don’t actually parent their children or work with them on homework or academics (I had a 1st grader who talked about being Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad for Halloween; and a kindergartner who plays GTA 5 after school); 3) No Child Left Behind is the worst thing to happen to education, because instead of actually holding students to meet state standards and retaining them if they fail, we pass them on to the next grade to fail at that as well because they aren’t prepared; 4) when students fail, the teacher gets blamed (I had a class where some students were at 2 full grade levels below what they should have been coming into my class. The class as a whole had 2 who were above level, 5 who were on level, and 9 who were below level...meaning the majority of my class wasn’t even meant to be in my class because they hadn’t met the standards for the previous year). It’s a broken system, and anyone who goes against it gets hamstrung or just quits because selling cell phones or driving a trash truck pays more than most 1st year teachers make.

Ironic video choice seeing as we're seeing several politicians who are doing just that, trying to do what's right for us. Granted, there are very few of them but there are some who really are. So while with the overwhelming majority, this is absolutely true, it is not entirely true.

I knew a caring politician. He legitimately cared about his region and the people and amenities in it. He was the local member, and a very down-to-earth bloke. Even had on his desk one of those tacky two-dollar-shop plaster skulls, that serve no purpose, and he drew a moustache and eyebrows on it. Then the State government passed a law that essentially meant that the entire local council could be collectively fired at any given time for no specific reason should any single member be suspected of corruption. Then when the local council tried to contest it, the State government passed a law that said that they couldn't contest it.

In my state there's a tax for any alcohol bought that's supposed to be used to fund schools, yet our schools are still crap. With as much alcohol as I see getting bought on a day-to-day basis, we should have the best schools in the nation, yet we don't......explain that 😕

@David Thompson Are you kidding? Especially on weekends and football game days, I see so many people with shopping carts filled to the brim with alcohol, and I can't imagine that it's any different anywhere else; we're not just 3rd best funded, we've got to be in first place easy.

To be fair not all public schools are the same, I went to a (small) public school and it wasn't the worst at teaching it was actually in the top 50 schools in my state. Point I am trying to make is this, even if you don't have all the resources if your school teachers are able to do a job that is better than what they are given to use aka they give a shit then the students will do alright

Rom Kin well I mean, schools in all their history have never been about preparing you for your personal issues, they were pretty much just created for training the masses to be better at the jobs they land in, so I don't see why they'd ever start to now.

The issue is more than funding, its the fact that they force a syllabus on the schools that the students have to learn, where half the crap they won't use in everyday life. Like how often do you use a quadratic formula in real life?

Also doesn't help that majority of the stuff you learn in high school is just a review from shit you already learned. Like how many times have you learned about the revolutionary war or the civil war? Or even WW1 or 2? MULTIPLE FREAKING TIMES.

Meanwhile heaven forbid, the teachers actually teach skills people should be knowing, like basic first aid, how to get a mortgage, or even how to buy a house. Just to name a few examples.
