My Hero
Foo Fighters攀 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Too alarmin' now to talk about
Take your pictures down and shake it out
Truth or consequence, say it aloud
Use that evidence, race it around

There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He's ordinary

Don't the best of them bleed it out
While the rest of them peter out?
Truth or consequence, say it aloud
Use that evidence, race it around

There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He's ordinary

Kudos, my hero, leavin' all the best
You know my hero, the one that's on
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He's ordinary
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes

There goes my hero
He's ordinary

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "My Hero" by Foo Fighters seem to be about the idea of heroism, and the ways in which people perceive those they look up to. The opening lines suggest that the subject matter is too troubling or overwhelming to address directly, perhaps implying that heroism is a complicated and challenging concept. The line "take your pictures down and shake it out" could be interpreted in a few ways - possibly suggesting that we need to let go of idealized images of our heroes, or perhaps indicating a sense of disillusionment or disappointment in someone we once admired.

The lyrics then move into a discussion of "truth or consequence", which seems to call into question the idea of heroism and whether it is based on genuine merit or simply a matter of perception. The lines "don't the best of them bleed it out, while the rest of them peter out?" suggest that some people have what it takes to truly be heroic, while others simply fade away. The chorus repeats the line "there goes my hero, watch him as he goes," which could be seen as a wistful or nostalgic statement - acknowledging the passing of time and the inevitability of heroes eventually fading into memory.

Overall, "My Hero" is a complex exploration of the idea of heroism, and how we perceive and honor those who embody it in our lives.

Bruce Lee is known also for 5 punches and kicks in a second
I agree he should be the #1 martial artist
Ip Man is his master and is known to fight for his country against the Japanese war for Chinas independence
Huo Yuan Jia is unbeatable if you haven't seen Jet Li's film Fearless
also Wong Fei Hung is the folk hero of China and beat 30 men with just a wooden spear but a staff
They were other Kung Ru Artists who are stronger than Wong Fei Hung, Ip Man and Bruce Lee also Huo Yuan Jia
check out Zhang San Feng the founder of Tai Chi
Bruce Lee was taught little by his father who practiced Tai Chi
Tai Chi Chuan has many styles in the branch and is considered to be to gain peace and harmony along with others and Tai Chi is known to be very fast when fighting
The founder of the style Mantis is legendary
Even the legendary Generals of Ancient China are far more powerful than Bruce Lee and Ip Man

Bruce went beyond the limits of Ip Man's Kung Fu and created a martial art system that embodies a mix of Asian and Western fighting styles and philosophies. If people today think he was just an actor then they don't know Bruce.
But even as an actor, he singlehandedly started the Martial Art Boom that led to the opening of many Dojos in many countries.
If it was not for Bruce you'd have never heard of anyone else on this list (unless you lived in Asia, and even then would they still be known today outside of dusty old history book?)
So please, a little respect for the legend.

IMO, Bruce Lee is the greatest martial artist of all time. He later realized that most traditional fighting styles are not that effective in real fighting, and he cross trained in numerous styles and only learned techniques that were truly effective. Dana White has stated that Bruce is the Godfather of MMA.

Bruce Lee the No 1. The Champions who lived in different martial artist during his time were inspired by his lightning speed and power. And some of them tested his power after challenging him got clarified and inspired.
