Man In A Cage
Fool's Garden Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To stand for my pride?
In a building of glass,
But I'm still throwing stones inside.
Man in a cage,
A perfect place of perfect isolation,
A heart full of pain,
How could I forget we keep on playing different games?
And I exit the stage,
I'm feelin' like a puppet retired from the hands of fate.
So why do I hesitate?
Why can't I break free?
And why do I still believe
This cage was made for you and me?
What does it take
To live a life of perfect isolation?
And what will remain
On the road to desperation?
How could I pretend this life was only made for me
And nobody else
Steppin' in my cage to free me from my chains?
Why do I hesitate?
Why can't I break free?
And why do I still believe
This cage was made for you and me?
It's made for you and me.
Man in a cage.
I'm livin' in my room.
Why won't you see that I'm engaged?
Man in a cage.
I'm livin' in my room.
Why won't you see that I'm engaged?
Man in a cage.
I'm livin' in my room.
Why won't you see that I'm engaged?
The song "Man in a Cage" by Fool's Garden describes a person who is trapped in the confines of their own mind and unable to break free. The lyrics suggest that despite being surrounded by opportunities, the person feels isolated and disconnected from others. Although they are throwing stones inside their glass building, they remain trapped and unable to escape their own despair. The chorus of the song questions why the person hesitates to break free and why they still believe the cage was made for them.
The lyrics suggest that the person may have created this cage for themselves and are unsure of how to free themselves from it. They may feel a sense of hopelessness and despair, believing that they are destined to remain trapped forever. The song suggests that in order to break free, the person needs to acknowledge their engagement with the world and accept the help of others to overcome their self-imposed limitations.
