This old familiar way
I ́m diving into memories
I ́m sailing out tonight far away
A place to begin a time to end
A blink of the eye a grain of sand
We ́re burning like fire
We ́re shining today we ́re leaving tomorrow
We ́re fading away returning to innocence
Someday
Now the rain begins to fall
It ́s like dust before my eyes
And suddenly I see them all
So clear and real again
A place to begin a time to end
A blink of the eye a grain of sand
And we rise and fall we can have it all
We ́re burning like fire
We ́re shining today we ́re leaving tomorrow
We ́re fading away returning to innocence
Someday
A place to begin a time to end
A blink of the eye a grain of sand
And we rise and fall we can have it all
We ́re burning like fire
We ́re shining today we ́re leaving tomorrow
We ́re fading away returning to innocence
Someday
And we rise and fall we can have it all
We ́re burning like fire
We ́re shining today we ́re leaving tomorrow
We ́re fading away returning to innocence
The lyrics of Fool's Garden's song "Rise and Fall" explore the fleeting nature of life and the cyclical patterns of existence. The singer takes a walk down a familiar lane and finds themselves immersed in memories, as if diving into the past. They embark on a journey, sailing away from their current reality, seeking a place to begin anew and a time to bring closure. The lyrics highlight the brevity of life, comparing it to a blink of an eye and a grain of sand.
The chorus emphasizes the temporary nature of our experiences. It speaks of rising and falling, of being able to have it all, but also acknowledges the transience of such moments. The imagery of burning like fire and shining today reflects the intensity and vibrancy of life, but the line "we're leaving tomorrow" reminds us of its impermanence. The lyrics suggest a longing to return to a state of innocence, a simpler and more carefree time.
As the rain falls, it symbolizes a cleansing of the past and the clearing of the singer's vision. In this moment, they see everything with clarity and vividness. The lyrics convey a sense of reflection and nostalgia, as the singer gains a renewed appreciation for the memories they hold.
Overall, "Rise and Fall" serves as a reminder to cherish and embrace the present moment, to recognize the ebb and flow of life's ups and downs, and to hold onto the innocence and simplicity of the past.
