Their first album, Once in a Blue Moon was released in 1993, followed two years later by Dish of the Day, from which "Lemon Tree" became an Asian chart hit. Go and Ask Peggy for the Principal Thing followed in 1997, then For Sale (2000), 25 Miles to Kissimmee (2003), and Ready for the Real Life (2005).

In 2003 the band changed three of its members: Roland Röhl, Thomas Mangold, and Ralf Wochele left, to be replaced by bassist Dirk Blümlein, drummer Claus Müller, and a second guitarist, Gabriel Holz. Holz left the band in 2007 after moving to Berlin.

In 2006, Fool's Garden released the single "I Got a Ticket," regarding on the World Cup Soccer competition that was held in Germany.

The band is recording new tracks for the release of a new album in 2008.

It is a pretty common selection bias. You only remember good music from those years because garbage is mostly forgettable. So you compare an age of which you have almost 100% good music references to an age (today), in which you still have everything, unfiltered: good music and garbage alike. There is as much good music now as there was back then (or any other time for that matter), but you don't quite see it as clearly with all the garbage still being salient.

When I first heard this song in 2020 during quarantine, it really resonated with me. The first storyline I'd gotten out of this song was that a girl had made false promises to the boy and that this was his way of talking about his disappointment in the girl. After some time I felt like the song was actually about a girl dying and leaving the boy all alone and that the song was about the boy grieving her death but not really grasping the reality of said death. Now in 2022, I've started rewatching mlp:fim (i guess, to cope with change) and started thinking about how discord would handle fluttershy's death as her lifelong friend (or lover, as that finale might suggest lol) and this song felt so appropriate to how discord might feel. I don't even know why i'm typing about my headcannons about a show that literally has nothing to do with this song but i wanted to release my train of thought to somewhere, and this seemed reasonable.
