She said that's okay I love you anyway
He said why cant you see the things that you do
She said whats wrong I did them all for you
I guess something had to change
Cause to many times were off
I know that when she acted strange
She spent those nights asleep on his floor
No matter what she always wanted more
He never knew the reasons why she cried
I love you never kept her satisfied
I guess something had to change
Cause to many times were off
I know that when she acted strange
I'm sorry would have been enough
A sorry was enough
When people stop and stare
She thought it went her way
She though he wouldn't care
But something had to change
He asked what did I do to make you lie
She held the tears and never answered why
He shook his head in turn and walked away
Knowing somehow she wanted him to stay
I guess something had to change
Cause to many times were off
I know that when she acted strange
I'm sorry would have been enough
I'm sorry would have been enough
The lyrics of Foolproof's song "Last Words" speaks about a love that has somehow gone wrong. The story is told through the exchange of words between two people who seemingly couldn't make their relationship work. The first verse shows a conversation between a couple, where the man is trying to express his dissatisfaction with the relationship by telling the woman that she does things that he doesn't like. However, she seems to misunderstand him and responds by saying that she loves him regardless. This illustrates a lack of understanding and communication between the two.
The chorus expresses the idea that the relationship was doomed from the start, faced too many problems and disagreements. The woman always wanted more, and despite him trying to understand the reason for her tears, he couldn't seem to satisfy her. The line "I'm sorry would have been enough" implies that both parties were hurt by the situation, and a more sincere apology could have lead to the repairing of a damaged relationship.
The last verse provides some closure to the story as the two finally part ways. Despite the man's attempts to find out why the woman lied to him, she chooses not to disclose this to him. This suggests that their communication had broken down completely so much so that they couldn't even speak honestly with each other anymore.
