Pepper Stew
Footsie Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I am a striker, Hernán Crespo
Could've said Vardy but I went retro
Back in the day I had a Mini Metro
Fling in a fiver, bare petrol
You know me I've been good from the get-go
And if a man's spraying then you
Better get low
And if you ain't got money then get dough
See my dreams I'm never gonna let go
Man want more than a bread roll
Mandem are looking the loaf
And if you look in my face right now
You'll see that this ain't a joke
You'll see that this ain't a game
Look, it's so simple and plain
A man will take 'way your watch and that
All of your chain
Life that I'm living gets nuts sometimes
Man I run up on man with a one time
Take 'way your belly and guts one time
Take all of your smelly and your HD telly
Every last penny, that's gone one time
Catch man slipping then gone one time
Find me and my soul just on front line
Live the life of a nutter
I used to roll with a knife for the butter
I've seen blood run down the drain
Out the front row seat, in the gutter
I tell a yout' talk up, don't stutter
Yeah, know what you're talking about
In this ends know where you're walking about
Man will get a peppering
Put a man in a hole like Ketamine
Doing this ting for years, I'm a veteran
And I know that I'm better than you
You can bring your bredrin
I'll pepper him too
Just wait for the hook, I'm peppering through
Yeah, you got blew on the buttons
This one comes like peppering stew

Peppering stew, peppering stew (What?)
Man can't talk 'bout peppering me
(Never that)
Try a ting then I'll be peppering you (What?)
Peppering you, peppering you (Trust, trust)
This one comes like peppering stew
Man can't talk 'bout peppering me (Serious)
Try a ting then I'll be peppering you

Mic, mic, check, cool
Check, check, check, 1, 2
Pep, pep, pep-pering stew
Guess who's next, it ain't you
Trust, I'm killing this ting fam
Man's well off
Man start switching, phone get bell off
Stop that bitching fam, you fell off
Man's in the kitchen munching Jollof
Run the riddim, yeah DJ run it
Peppering stew in your mouth, yeah bun it
Talking a lot but they're not on it
Man will hot them up like red scotch bonnet
Yeah, you'll see me in reality not realiTTV
Put Integrity on your PC please
Yeah you're not a G without a Jme CD
Them man need their sanity checked
Blud it's getting embarrassing
They're online, stunting, all bading
But on payday they get a reality cheque
Talk to their boss, quick salary check
I'm eating good, quick calorie check
Them man ain't really eating fam
Some microwave and salad cream chef
Sad, man are curating a whole new life
Come like Arnie from True Lifes
Fam, I know you think you're wide
Don't know who told you but
(Serious, pepper get)
Serious (Peppering you, peppering you, peppering stew, peppering stew, try a ting then I'll be peppering you)

Peppering stew, peppering stew
Man can't talk 'bout peppering me
Try a ting then I'll be peppering you
Peppering you, peppering you
This one comes like peppering stew

Man can't talk 'bout peppering me
Try a ting then I'll be peppering you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Footsie's song "Pepper Stew" is all about his toughness and how he's willing to fight anyone who challenges him. He starts off by comparing himself to a striker, Hernán Crespo, and saying that he's been good from the get-go. Footsie then warns his enemies that they better get low if someone is spraying bullets and tells them to get money if they don't have any to avoid trouble with him. He says that he's never going to let go of his dreams and that some people want more than just a bread roll.

Footsie then goes on to say that the life he's living can get crazy sometimes, and he's seen it all. He says that he's a veteran who's better than anyone else, and he can take down anyone, even their 'bredrin.' The chorus of the song repeats the line "Peppering stew," which is a reference to Footsie's violent behavior. He warns people not to talk about peppering him or else they'll get hit back the same way. He also talks about how people need to be careful in the area and not talk to people they don't know. In the second verse, Footsie talks about how he's well off and how some people fell off. He says that he's in the kitchen eating Jollof, a traditional West African rice dish, and telling the DJ to run the beat because he's ready to fight.

Overall, "Pepper Stew" is a powerful and catchy song about Footsie's violent tendencies and his dominance over others. It's a classic grime song that has been well-received by fans of the genre.

Idk man i thought footsie had some good flow but the drill shit is a bit too real / glorified violence not my cup of tea m8.

I got mugged in December by some teens who probably listen to this type of shit. They were wielding steak knives (they had stolen from their mums kitchen) and literally when i approached them they were trembling with their hands, not holding the knife ''properly'' at all (which i considered a good thing)

They made me fear for my life however, by the way they approached, dressed (with masks), to such an extent, that if i had carried a knife on me, i may had actually killed both of the kids to escape. (they blocked my exit, had dressed up like some clown murderers, and i had no idea if they would just let me walk away after i had handed over my wallet).

I would think it terrible if as a reaction to ''drill beats'' influencing teenagers to act violently or otherwise intimidating the general public, the public would be forced to resort to extreme measures of self defense.

Think about how this is influencing the youth. They don't have as many experiences as older generations, therefore they absorb other peoples experiences into their ego. They think it's actually cool to emulate.

It's making me racist.
Stop man. Stop. Didn't we have enough bullshit with the gangsta rap period? Why push this shit onto the internet.... :(

At least footsie knows a thing or two about subtlety. But these europeans don't know anything about context (UK street lifestyle, they know nuffin about it)

This song just reminds me of how boring and repetitive drill beats are and how innovative and original grime beats are. Keep up the good work, boys.

easy

you can appreciate both you're just being a nostalgic. there are innovative drill beats

How repetitive has drill been now? It’s so dead imo

Talk Facts

It's the drill artist fault. There are bare drill beats that are different for instance. Vocal chops. Rnb type etc.
