"Light It Up" by for KING & COUNTRY is a song about moving forward and not letting the past consume you. The first verse speaks to someone who has lost their direction and is stuck in a disappointingly dark place. Though a beautiful sunset has occurred, the person has lost sight of their surroundings and themselves. They've been lost in the "wind" – that is, perhaps, the ups and downs and unpredictability of life. But the chorus calls the person to "light it up and let it go," to realize that they're not alone and that they have the power – figuratively and literally – to change their situation. I lived with Major Depressive Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder that was so debilitating that I rarely got out of bed and didn’t function for so many years! My friend was also living in darkness, he actually had suicidal thoughts and he was once out in the backyard of his house and he had a noose on the tree, I sent him this song right before he committed suicide and he came over to my house and he just gave me a big hug, a couple days later we saw that you were coming to our state, Boise, Idaho at Taco Bell Arena and he invited me to come with him, he just started to love like he knew he was loved by many other people, and like he was known and seen by GOD.
