For Today Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And lift the sound of our voices high; kingdom come!
Kingdom come!
There is a fire in the atmosphere. Can you feel it?
You have been called to relinquish fear. Can you hear it?
You were made to stand before the throne. Can you see it?
Tell me, where are the ones with the heart for warfare
Step up! There is no glory without death.
Step up. Who will answer the call? Death is glory!
I will rise from the ashes of my own death to abundant life under the cross,
And I will not be turned back,
But I will come with an army;
For He will raise up a generation to seek His face.
Now is the time for those who have died to rise,
And lift the sound of our voices high; kingdom come!
Kingdom come!
The lyrics of For Today's song Phoenix speak about the call to battle for those who have already died to rise and join forces in a fight for God's kingdom. The song seeks to inspire listeners to answer this call and embrace death as the ultimate sacrifice for glory. The bridge of the song is particularly powerful as it talks about rising from the ashes of one's own death to live an abundant life under the cross.
The main theme of Phoenix is the call to arms for a spiritual battle, where the soldiers are the ones who have already died and risen to a new life. The band urges their listeners to relinquish their fears and stand before God's throne to fight for His kingdom. The song emphasizes that there is no glory without death and that those who answer the call will be rewarded with eternal life. The lyrics are poignant and evoke a sense of urgency and determination to fight the good fight and answer the call to battle.
In conclusion, Phoenix is a powerful and inspiring song that speaks of the ultimate sacrifice for a higher purpose. It encourages listeners to stand up, answer the call to arms, and fight for God's kingdom. The lyrics are a reminder that death is not the end but the beginning of a new life under the cross.
