After moving from the East Coast of Canada to the West in the beginning of 2006, Colin began recording songs in his bedroom using an 8-track and a handful of guitars at his disposal. An inherently private person, he would occasionally share these songs with certain friends and family members back home under one condition - only they had permission to listen to the songs. To reinforce this, he attached the following label to all recordings: FOR YOUR EARS ONLY.

You guys are really great. One question though; unfortunately, I missed the sales on the Oscitron. And that would have marked my entry into the Eurorack universe... Are you completely out of products at the moment? I just wait until you release the Atmegatron2, right? ;) And start my Eurorack-journey with Intellijel then, hehe.
33:03 Roland is refusing because in their DNA they still have the slogan "We design the future." It is just not their thing to re-do something in the exact same way they invented it 40 years ago. That becomes pretty obvious when you watch their AIRA trailer á la "how we did it. // why we do it like that." And as much as we wanted a brand new Roland TR-x0x or Juno or Jupiter and whatnow... THIS agenda ( #wedesignthefuture ) is what brought us all the wonderful instruments in the first place.
I am very happy with my original machines, as pricey as they were. Just bought an 808 some months ago and a 909 not long before that. And I enjoy using both to the moon and back. Money cannot even describe/value this joy.
34:20 IF one wants a cheaper alternative, the stuff from DIN Sync is really great imho. Honest, thorough work and engineer's craftsmanship. The RE-303, RE-909 and starting now, the RE-808, too. Also the Steda SR-909 is so spot on and absolutely within the range of the remaining TR-909s.

I’m happy you enjoyed the chat Hans! It’s been one of my favourite videos I’ve done for a while. I can’t comment on the Soulsby Synths points of course, but perhaps Paul will see this and respond.
Interesting points about Roland I think. They certainly lost their way for a while, but they are making good stuff again at the moment.
