I was in the service at the time when this song came out. I remember I was on my first deployment. The service was the worst and darkest time of my life. When I was on my third deployment to Afghanistan my wife sent me this song. I never knew how hard it was for her to deal with me being gone so much. 22 yards of active duty and 21 years married, I’m grateful we made it through together.

My dad was never around when I was a kid, me and my mom were together in our tiny apartment while he lived in a different country for his work. My childhood would’ve been so different if he had simply chosen to be there for us. This song helped me ease that sense of loneliness I felt growing up. Thank you Mike for your music. ❤️
