The guys have been touring on their own since the bandās inception; in 2005, they landed choice slots on the Warped and A Taste of Chaos toursāthe latter tour invited them back in 2006. With their scream-along choruses, monster breakdowns, and unexpected, yet well balanced soft side, Four Letter Lie have built a dedicated, and loyal local fan-base from the ground up as well as a strong nationwide audience.
So it should come as no surprise to find out that Four Letter Lie was one of the four featured unsigned bands in Januaryās issue of Alternative Press Magazine, and was selected by fans to perform for the second year in a row at Taste Of Chaos. āWe have always been a band who works as hard as we can at what we do and I think thatās something people start to notice after awhile,ā Skaff adds. Victory Records sure took notice, as they snapped them up in 2006 and sent them into the studio with producer extraordinaire Michael Birnbaum and Chris Bittner (Coheed and Cambia, Straylight Run, The Sleeping). āRecording with Michael and Chris was probably one of the most exciting things we have experienced thus far as a band,ā says Waltmann. āA lot of bands we are influenced by have spent time in that studio.ā
Recording at Applehead Studios in Woodstock, NY, offered its own special rewards. āWorking in Woodstock was a good place for us to get away and really devote ourselves to this record,ā Smith notes. āBeing surrounded by all of the rock history built in Woodstock was an inspiration for all of us.ā āEverything seemed to click in the studio,ā Waltmann affirms. āWe were surrounded by a peaceful environment and the record felt completely natural, thatās when we knew we had achieved what we were going for.ā
Their achievement is Let Your Body Take Over, a wondrous collection of songs that run the gamut from seething rock chaos and unbridled emotions to sweet pop and clever wordplay. The fun starts with the first single āFeel Like Fameā and it doesnāt let up from track one to twelve. āWe have the passion and drive in our music and ourselves to constantly be striving for more,ā Brian Nagan. āWe hope for people to recognize these traits and relate to what weāre trying to portray to them.ā
Donāt lose sight of this band, as itās readily apparent that the best is yet to come. As Nagan concludes, āWe try to work together collectively 110% in everything that we do and so far itās leading us in a positive direction."

Four Letter Lie Lyrics

To music that's blasting through the room
So, let's put on a show in our weekend's best clothes
I hope you find what you're looking for
Because I meant it when I said "I will never love again"
But you'll never understand
This black and white formal's got all that she wants
And I'm thinking of her, she's not thinking of me
And now all that she wants is the touch of warm bodies
I'm begging you to consciously turn your eyes in my direction
Connection is made
I meant what I said, I will never love again
But you'll never understand
This black and white formal's got all that she wants
It's got boys, I decide, boys by her side
And I'm thinking of her, she's not thinking of me
And now all that she wants is the touch of warm bodies
The song "Firecracker" by Four Letter Lie is a representation of the frustration and uncertainty in the singer's romantic life. The lyrics describe the atmosphere of a party, where people are dancing to loud music and wearing their best clothes. The singer is haunted by the memory of a woman who is not interested in them. They have made a vow to never love again but are ultimately convinced by the desire for human connection. The lyric "I'm begging you to consciously turn your eyes in my direction" expresses the desperation the singer feels to be acknowledged by their love interest.
The tension between the singer's desire for love and their fear of being hurt is palpable throughout the song. The lyrics "This black and white formal's got all that she wants / It's got boys, I decide, boys by her side" illustrate the object of the singer's affection getting the attention they desire from others. The singer is left feeling powerless and isolated, as they reflect on their own unrequited feelings.
In conclusion, "Firecracker" is a poignant commentary on the complexities of finding love and the fear of vulnerability. Four Letter Lie captures the emotions of isolation, rejection and longing through their masterful songwriting.
