I was introduced to this album by a friend when I was 13 or 14. Our friends mum would let us smoke weed in the house as she thought it was better for us than hanging out in the streets. His mum was an old style hippie. Every Saturday we would descend on his house and smoke weed for hours and hours listening to all types of music to the small hours. It was mostly Wu Tang Clan, Massive Attack, Leftfield, Aim and this that got played. It was usually just the 3 of us and we would get so high. We always had enough weed to roll a joint each, but we never did, we always shared joints, funny looking back at that. Smoking weed was definitely a social act for us back then. Being high wasn't fun unless your friends were high as well. We would chat shit until we were so stoned, the only thing you could experience was the music. You would not only hear, but feel every change in the music. This album whilst high back then was an experience. The journey you would go on as soon as this album was put on the CD player was enlightening. I would lose myself in some sort of meditative, inter dimentional trance, staring at the ceiling with a massive grin and this album felt so warm and comforting, all worries and problems were gone. Then, the album would end, and we would all burst in to fits of uncontrollable laughter. 14 years ago now. It's been a hell of a difficult ride since those days of not a care or responsibility.
I'm now awake at 5.05 am on a night shift job, feeling particularly nostalgic haha.

grhmcchrn sounds like fun bro. Find yourself a new group of friends that you can this with. The social and communal act of ritual with psychoactive drugs and music is wonderful and life-affirming. I hope you find yourself in some smooth and happy times again soon.

The contrast with that aggressive distorted sound is so awesome - it's like two different emotional responses battling with each other.

The same is done on 'Unspoken' from the same album. Heavy drum alongside a delicate piano. Superb.

Definitely my favourite song by Four Tet thus far. I simply adore how glitchy and off kilter the chorus sounds.

How come this has been removed from spotify? Its a classic

Lawrence Fulton

Fight between Four Tet and the record label Domino on the streaming royalties. Dominos said if Keiran wouldn't stop the suit they would remove albums. Check his twitter for source.
