Daylight
Foxworth Hall Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

l wasn't ready when my name was called
always thought that the line was long
it doesn't really matter cuz life rolls on
when we're here and when we're finally gone
all i know is the timing's right
we're not alone
when the sirens fire
daylight's falling
on the waves i've been calling
may your days find where fortune lives
may you leave with nothing left to give
all i know is the timing's right
we're not alone
when the sirens fire
daylight's falling
on the waves i've been calling

may your days find where fortune lives
may you leave with nothing left to give

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Daylight" by Foxworth Hall speak about the inevitability of time and the unpredictable nature of life. The song opens with the line "I wasn't ready when my name was called," which implies that the singer was taken by surprise when their time came. They then reflect on how they always thought that the line was long, suggesting that they believed they had more time than they did. However, they acknowledge that it doesn't really matter because life rolls on regardless of whether we feel prepared for it or not.

The chorus is a wish for all those who are still living. The singer hopes that their listeners' days will find where fortune lives and that they will leave with nothing left to give. This seems to suggest that the singer has come to the end of their own life and is now offering a prayer for the good fortune of others. The repeated line "all I know is the timing's right" could be interpreted in various ways, but it seems to suggest a certain resignation to fate and an acceptance of life's impermanence.

As a whole, "Daylight" could be seen as a contemplative and wistful song about the passing of time and the importance of making the most of the time we have. The lyrics are poetic and evoke a sense of both sadness and hopefulness.

This reminds me of being in a truck In the Apocalypse while the sun is going down driving cross country with a couple of other people. WE NEED MORE MUSIC JUST LIKE THIS ! And please tell the band that this is one of the best songs I've heard.

Edit:
(5 years later. I finally came back to this video. I found the band name in the title. I've graduated high school, bought myself that truck I always wanted, and have had my own adventures since I originally found this. I can still say, this song is amazing. Thank you again for introducing me to it.)
