The band consists of lead vocalist Eric Nally, guitarist Loren Turner, pianist Sky White and bass player Daisy. After forming the band immediately recorded The Flamingo Trigger independently then committed to an extensive national touring regimen. Shortly there after Foxy signed with Ferret Records and recorded their second album Introducing Foxy Shazam which was produced by Casey Bates (Chiodos, Portugal. The Man) and released on January 22, 2008. The following year they recorded their first major label record with multi-platinum record produced John Feldmann. Foxy Shazam signed with Sire Records (a subsidiary Warner Brothers) and released their self titled major label debut in 2010.
The band name originated from a slang phrase used by students at Eric Sean Nally's high school where Foxy Shazam meant "cool shoes". On February 7, 2010, their single Unstoppable was featured in Super Bowl XLIV.
In 2008, the band were named one of the 100 bands you need to know by Alternative Press. They toured with bands such as The Strokes, Bad Rabbits, and The Young Veins. In 2010, the band were placed on Spin's list of ten bands you need to know. Since then, they've appeared on TV programs such as the Daily Haibt. Also in 2010, vocalist Eric Nally helped write songs for Meat Loaf's album, Hang Cool Teddy Bear.
Foxy Shazam have previously toured with Hole and played this year's Lollapalooza festival. They've been appearing in more magazines supporting their latest release like Alternative Press and Spin. They played a 3 song set for The Daily Habit Show on Fuel.tv. They recently performed a 5 song set for shockhound.com. They also recently performed 3 songs acoustic for Spin Magazine, one of which was a brand new song entitled "I'm in love with a boy." The band performed a full set and interview on Chicago's JBTV in July 2010. The band have also performed a live an exclusive version of "oh Lord" for music discovery app and namesake Shazam.
Foxy Shazam's first album, The Flamingo Trigger is seen as a post-hardcore album, with some slight classical influences. The band more resembled peers such as Chiodos and The Fall of Troy. With their second release, Introducing, the band incorporated more genres into their sound, and even making ballads, though still with some post-hardcore influence. Their latest release, Foxy Shazam, has influences ranging from Gospel, Soul, and Glam Metal. The band continues to surprise fans by keeping themselves original.
A quote from lead singer, Eric Sean Nally: "When I listen to a Foxy Shazam record I think of Evel Knievel, Bruce Springsteen, my childhood, Van Morrison, my old friends from high school I don't talk to anymore, Elton John, the '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s and beyond, Iggy Pop and my first kiss. One of my favorite things to do when listening to my music is to close my eyes and picture a crowd of six million people all chanting "Foxy! Foxy! Foxy!" The lights go out and my band walks on stage. It gives me goose bumps. It all makes sense to me. When you listen to our record, think of your favorite things and it'll make sense to you as well. Foxy Shazam is not concerned with what category it falls into. We want to stand for our generation. We want to be the biggest band in the world. We want to be the Michael Jordan of Rock N' Roll."
Many media outlets compare the band to Queen and Meat Loaf because of their use of theatrics and over-the-tops lyrics. The band themselves have noted the similarities but believe that they are just all influenced by the same things. It's not always music that influences the band, it could even be a smell that triggers a memory.
Eric Sean Nally has said an album that influenced him was Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill. The magazine Alternative Press has compared the band to bands like Queen, My Chemical Romance, and The Darkness while also believing that the band has a very unique sound that should best be seen live.

In the event someone at the studio sees this, or for anyone in general I suppose, I’m gonna try to give a slightly more thought out explanation for why people didn’t like this series. I’m gonna talk about a few points brought up when people hate on this, and try to clarify it a bit better.
A lot of people plainly say this series was “cringy”. While not inherently “cringy” in a vacuum, every short is just a really basic elevation / subversion joke, so it becomes really easy to predict jokes before they even land. The first short made was pretty good because no one knew what to expect. But after the 5th one it became really easy to predict the jokes and even the entire plot.
Now, let’s talk about the crossover argument. Crossovers aren’t inherently bad either. But this series does it on such a surface level, when there’s so much untapped potential when you introduce other media. You open the door for quite literally infinite possibilities. But no. This series just piggybacks off of popular horror games at the time, or is used to advertise poppy playtime (which wouldn’t necessarily a bad thing on its own either if it wasn’t done every other episode). It would be so interesting to see fazbear and friends interact with other franchises such as:
Half life
Inscryption
Doom
The actual minecraft world itself
Portal
Lego
These were just ideas I had while I was writing this. There was so much you could have done with the idea.
And on top of that half of the characters are exactly the same..
Every character is screaming while stock sound effects play on repeat in the background. It hurts my ears to listen to and it just makes it more painful to watch.
Not to mention all of the really… what’s the word… provocative stuff in some of the episodes, but that’s a whole other can of worms I don’t wanna get into.
In addition, the animation is a significant downgrade. Now I understand you wanted to make these quickly, but even then some of it doesn’t look good
- parts of the rig not properly tracking or even being parented at all.
- waaaay too much squashing and stretching to the point where I can’t even tell what I’m looking at anymore
-lighting is just worse in every way
- animation is rougher than a gorillas behind. Everything just suddenly stops instead of slowing even a little bit.
I apologize but I’m really passionate about animation and it pains me to see this low quality stuff when I know y’all can do better.
Now, I wanna take some time to address a common argument made in defense of this series,
“It’s just a kid’s series. You can’t critique it as hard”
I’m just gonna say it. This is a stupid argument.
Good kids media can also be good for adults too. Lemme list off a few examples
Transformers
Word girl
Ninjago
Regular show
Adventure time
All of these shows were targeted for kids but are still seen as amazing by adults. Kids shows don’t have lower standards because of who they were made for, because if they were then that’s just being lazy.
As C.S Lewis once said, “A children's story that can only be enjoyed by children isn't a good children's story in the slightest.”
Literally this series in a single sentence.
So no. I don’t hate this show because of the crossovers, or because of the really lazy humor, incessant obnoxiousness, or anything else I’ve said just now.
Actually I do, but I hate it mostly because I know it could have been something amazing.

They have sent you a letter,
To come back home to play,
But to your dismay
This isn't your day
For the happy fun time
Has begun to fade
Watch as we reanimate
Our corpses you abandoned
We're dismantled
We're mishandled
But we won't be skipped and swayed
Trapped within these walls
You left our souls to drip away
The ink decays
The walls at bay
But the reckoning has come today
You say
Borris has no guts 'cause you
Replaced it with mechanical strain
We've been tortured
But we move forward
This disorder kills your day
I am alive!
Immortalized
You're the creator
You traitor
Hey!
There's no vaccine
To cure our dirty needs
For now you must
Build up our machine
You die tonight
Tonight
Build up our machine
You die tonight
Tonight
Build up our machine
You die tonight
So you found all the pieces
To initiate the pain
Our venom stains
The night remains
But the ending is always just the same
No gain
Nod your head to the beat of death
As you draw your last eternal breath
Sensations
Of an invasion
Start to course right through our veins
You say we have no brains
We're just cartoons for your portrayal
To tell some tale about a boat and sail
But sure this inevitably
unveils the fail
Splashes of eternal hate
Will flood the floor
and clean your slate
Now we're the tools
And you're the fool
Our nightmare dominates
I am alive!
Immortalized
You're the creator
You traitor
Hey!
There's no vaccine
To cure our dirty needs
For now you must
Build up our machine
You die tonight
I am alive!
Immortalized
You're the creator
You traitor
Hey!
There's no vaccine
To cure our dirty needs
For now you must
Build up our machine
You die tonight
Tonight
Build up our machine
You die tonight
Tonight
Build up our machine
You die tonight
I am aware
That your soul is now divine
We care not to toil
With unbroken chains
So don't toil with ours
Like he did to our shining stars
So prepare for adventure
We're a whole new creature
From the darkest side
You can't take away the pain we feel
Created as monsters
That come to life
Come back to life!
So you've come to the end now
Alive but dead inside
The heart beats loud
You've joined our crowd
We are but punished serpentines
Your life with him was fun
But now the terror's only just begun
Now come with me
And you will see
We're a new born cyanide!
I am alive!
Immortalized
You're the creator
You traitor
Hey!
There's no vaccine
To cure our dirty needs
For now you must
Build up our machine
You die tonight
I am alive!
Immortalized
You're the creator
You traitor
Hey!
There's no vaccine
To cure our dirty needs
For now you must
Build up our machine
You die tonight
Tonight
Build up our machine
You die tonight
Tonight
Build up our machine
You die tonight!

This is honestly the best way to end the series. Bringing back what kept the channel going from the start, giving EVERY character whose appeared in the series (with the exception of a few), an appearance, and an all around, amazing musical number

Unironically your shorts had amazing humour, I was genuinely surprised how good it was.
That said, returning to music would be awesome to see. I fully support this decision.
