Discography
Her first, self-titled album was released in 1997 ("Françoiz Breut"). Her second album was the 2000 "Vingt à Trente Mille Jours" (20 to 30 thousand days); this second album was long awaited by fans, and helped broaden her exposure and appeal internationally. In 2005, "Une saison volée" was released. Most recently, after numerous tours in France and abroad (notably Germany), she released in 2008 her latest album, "à l'aveuglette" (roughly translated as "blindly" -- as in, searching).
She is on numerous compilations (such as the popular "Le Pop" compilation series of "la nouvelle scène française"), and also appears on Calexico's live DVD "World Drifts In: Live at the Barbican" (2004).
By any other name...
The name "Françoiz Breut" is a pseudonym; this name itself was purportedly adopted by Ms. Breut after her original stage name, Françoiz Brrr, was incorrectly reported in the media. (The sound is roughly similar; "Brrr" (or "Breut") would be pronounced like "brew" or "broot".)

Pra não ter que te encarar
Afogo na piscina
Pra você me salvar
Tropeço na escada pra você me pegar
Crio mil feitiços pra tentar te conquistar
Eu só quero brincar com você
Tenho todos que quero
Mas perco o ar quando te vejo
Saio com seus vizinhos
Só pra você me notar
Tropeço na escada pra você me pegar
Crio mil feitiços pra tentar te conquistar
Eu só quero brincar com você
Eu só quero brincar com você
Eu só quero, quero brincar com você
Eu só quero brincar com você
Eu só quero brincar com você
Eu só quero brincar com você
Eu só quero, quero brincar com você
Eu só quero brincar com você
Não me despreze
Eu sou pior que você
Não tenha medo
Eu só quero brincar
The lyrics of Françoiz Breut's song, Intro, are a charming and whimsical reflection of innocent infatuation. The singer is shy and hesitant when it comes to confronting the object of their desire, hoping to disappear into the shadows to avoid a direct confrontation. However, paradoxically, they also hope to be saved by the beloved's actions, like drowning in a pool and relying on them for a rescue. Even though the singer has a collection of flings and admirers, they only have eyes for their crush, losing their breath at just the sight of them. They even go as far as to socialize with the beloved's neighbors to gain their attention.
The singer's efforts to draw the affection of their crush are endearing, from stumbling on the staircase to using magic spells to attempt to win their love. The repetition of the line, "eu só quero brincar com você," meaning "I just want to play with you," establishes the singer's innocent intentions without any hidden agendas. While the song's light-hearted tone and playful melody suit the lyrics about a crush, it can also be read as a reflection of the singer's inner child still seeking reckless and joyful fun through playfulness.
