Besides the highly successful "Poupée de Cire, Poupée de Son", she also notably sung "Les Sucettes" and "Baby Pop". In France, she was perhaps more known for the chanson songs she sang in the late-70s through the mid-80s, many of them written by her husband, Michel Berger, who died in 1992. In 1987, she had some additional international success with her Ella Fitzgerald tribute "Ella, elle l'a". She still recorded music into the new millennium.
France Gall died on 7 january 2018 at age 70 in a hospital in Paris.

Tu es le chef a la maison
Mais un grand chef doit être sage
Bonsoir John John
Bonsoir John John
Bonsoir John John
Puisque papa est en voyage
Tu es le chef a la maison
Mais un grand chef doit être sage
Bonsoir John John
Bonsoir John John
The lyrics of France Gall's song Bonsoir John John describe the responsibility of a young child named John John to be the leader of the household while his father is away on a trip. The song highlights John John's struggle to balance the duties of being a commander with the challenges of being a child. His father advises him to set aside his toy soldiers and not to engage in conflict, indicating the importance of peace and tranquility in a household. The song implies that John John's experience represents something larger, perhaps the importance of familial stability, unity, and understanding. Gall's portrayal of John John is highly empathetic and displays his innocence, strength, and intelligence.

Les paroles en anglais- English lyrics
Because Papa has gone away,
You are the head of the household.
But a great leader must be wise.
Good night, John John
Like Papa often said
It's no longer time to make war.
We must put away all these soldiers.
Good night, John John
You are a man and you know
A man never cries.
Take a good look around you,
Many are sad,
But don't cry.
Never, never, no never
You say one day, in the procession,
The whites, the blacks,
Everybody was crying.
That day
You must forget.
Good night, John John
If you gently fall asleep,
It's possible that, while dreaming,
Papa may return for a moment.
Time to say, while kissing you,
Good night, John John,
Like before.
Because Papa has gone away,
You are the head of the household.
But a great leader must be wise.
Good night, John John
Good night, John John

Cela fait très bizarre d'écouter France Gall depuis qu'elle est décédée. Elle aura pour toujours cette voix juvénile.

I'm almost the exact same age as John John, from an Irish Catholic family and I used to wear the same little outfits and looked very similar back then. I have one memory of that day, my Mom was weeping terribly. To us, we finally got "one of ours" in the White House, and someone killed that "Camelot" dream. RIP JFK, Ms. France Gall and John John Kennedy. We all lost something that day. All very fine human beings that gave to others.
