Between the release of her debut album My Paper Heart and its follow-up Hundred More Years, Battistelli married Christian band percussionist Matthew Goodwin and gave birth to her first child, Matthew Elijah. According to the Hundred More Years songfacts Battistelli chose to title her sophomore record after the track "Hundred More Years" because the tune's subject matter of a couple falling in love and having their first child mimiced her own life. Hundred More Years was released on March 1, 2011.
Francesca Battistelli is no stranger to the stage. Raised by parents immersed in the arts and Broadway, she developed a love of music, theatre, and performance at a young age. But instead of using these talents for applause and accolades, Francesca prefers to point people to something beyond herself --towards hope in Christ. Her soulful piano-pop sound resembles a blend of her music interests -- jazz, rock, gospel and R&B -- woven beautifully together with themes of trust and risk-taking. In a noisy world filled with sounds and images, we cry out for an authentic voice--one who is not afraid to speak truth and purpose to a generation. In singer/songwriter Francesca Battistelli, we have found that voice.
Just the Same

When my world is right
I trust you
When the good road, is all that I know
When you feel so close
I trust you, But That's not always right
When I can't climb the mountain
That stands in front of me
Afraid that I might sink
Still you have never changed
So I'll trust you just the same
There are seasons, there are reasons
That I won't understand
But I trust you
'Cause you are faithful, always able
It's all at your command
So I trust you, God with all my life
Every step, every breath
All my life in your hands
Francesca Battistelli's song Just The Same is a beautiful expression of faith and trust in God. In the first verse, the singer talks about trusting God when things are going well in her life, and when she feels close to Him. She knows that God is trustworthy and she can depend on Him. However, in the chorus, she acknowledges that trusting God is not always easy, especially when she encounters obstacles that seem insurmountable. She mentions climbing a mountain and crossing an ocean, which represent challenges in her life that she cannot overcome on her own. Despite her fear and uncertainty, she says that God has never changed and she will continue to trust Him, just as she always has.
The second verse of the song highlights the mystery of God's ways. The singer recognizes that there are seasons and reasons in her life that she may not understand. However, she still trusts God because she knows He is faithful and always in control. She concludes the song by saying that her entire life is in God's hands, and she trusts Him with every step and every breath.
Overall, Just The Same is a powerful reminder of the importance of faith and trust in God, even in the midst of difficult circumstances. It encourages listeners to hold on to their faith and trust that God is always with them, no matter what they may be facing.
