… Read Full Bio ↴Francis Goya (born Francis Weyer) is a Belgian guitarist born in Liege.
Weyer first played with Patrick Ruymen in the group Les Caraïbes, a Belgian cover group. The two then formed the rock group Liberty Six in 1965, which had a proto-psychedelic stage show and released only one single before disbanding. Weyer then moved on to the J.J. Band and Plus.
In the 1970s, Weyer started using the name Francis Goya and released solo albums of romantic Spanish guitar and mandolin music. His 1975 single "Nostalgia", a tune written by his father and arranged for guitar by Goya, became an international hit, reaching #1 in Belgium, Holland, Germany, Norway, and Brazil. Later albums saw Goya moving more into a Latin American-influenced style, including three albums recorded with Bolivian singer Carmina Cabrera.
Goya has some 40 album releases to his credit.

This is that once in a lifetime
This is the thrill divine
What's more, this never happened before
Though I have prayed for a lifetime
That such as you would suddenly be mine
Mine to have when the now and the here disappear
What matters, dear, for
When this doesn't happen again
We'll have this moment forever
But never, never again (never, never)
Never again...
The song "Again" by Francis Goya is a romantic ballad that speaks of a moment of pure bliss that seems almost surreal – an experience that simply cannot be replicated. The opening lines capture the impossibility of the moment, the recognition that what they are experiencing exists outside of time and space. The singer remarks that this is a once in a lifetime feeling, one that is thrilling and divine. The emotion conveyed is intense, and almost spiritual – something that can only happen once, but will be cherished forever.
The second verse expresses a sense of gratitude, reinforced by the line "though I have prayed for a lifetime". The longing and yearning for such an experience has been felt for what seems like eternity, and yet could only be realised in this moment. The singer feels blessed and grateful that such a wonderful feeling has finally found them. The affirmation of ownership in the third line of that verse reveals the depth of feeling – that the object of their affection is not just a passing fancy, but someone they will continue to cherish.
The final verse is bittersweet, acknowledging that this moment is fleeting – something that will never happen again. Yet, the singer finds comfort in the knowledge that they will have this moment to hold on to forever, even if it cannot be relived. The refrain "never again" is repeated, lingering on the moment's fragility and ultimately highlighting its significance.
Overall, "Again" is a tender ode to a moment of pure love and joy that may happen only once, but will leave a lasting impact. It is a celebration of the present moment and a wistful acknowledgement of its impermanence.
