The opening line of “Eyes thinly blue and angle-less” paints a picture of someone who appears emotionally vacant and dispassionate. The next line, “Doubt you're looking for someone to miss” suggests that this person has perhaps been through breakups before and is therefore less likely to form emotional attachments. The line that follows, “Do you wish you were old?” could be interpreted in a number of ways. Perhaps the singer is suggesting that this person has a jaded outlook on life, or that they feel as though they've already lived their life to the fullest. The line “Pass someone else to hold, just to give it back” could be interpreted as this person’s approach to relationships. They use people, only to ultimately end things with them.

The chorus is composed of the repetitive phrase “Give it back,” which could be interpreted as the singer’s plea to this person to return something they took or borrowed. However, as the song progresses, it becomes more evident that this phrase is directed towards returning the love and affection they took from others, only to give it back in the end. The line “So bitter, so hung up. So cliche” implies that this is a pattern this person can’t shake, but it also suggests some level of disdain for this person's behavior. The final lines “You'll have it all back one day. You will” is the singer’s way of suggesting that this person will ultimately experience the same heartbreak and pain they’ve inflicted on others.
