Françoise Hardy signed her first contract with the record label Vogue in November 1961. In April 1962, shortly after finishing school, her first record Oh Oh Chéri appeared, written by Johnny Hallyday's writing duo. Her own flip side of the record, "Tous Les Garçons Et Les Filles" became a success, riding the wave of Yé-yé music in France, with two million sales.
Hardy sang in French, English, Italian, Spanish, and German. In 1963 she came fifth for Monaco in the Eurovision Song Contest with "L'amour s'en va". In 1963, she was awarded the Grand Prix Du Disque of the Charles Cros Academy.
In 1981, she married her long-time companion Jacques Dutronc, with whom she had had a son, Thomas Dutronc, in 1973. In 1994, she collaborated with the British pop group Blur for their "La Comedie" version of To The End. In May 2000, she made a comeback with the album Clair Obscur. Her son played guitar and her husband sang the duet "Puisque Vous Partez En Voyage." Iggy Pop and Étienne Daho also took part. Hardy lives near Paris and Dutronc lives in Monticello, Corsica, although they remain a couple.[citation needed]
Ça a raté

Seule je me promenais
Un garcon inconnu
Soudain m'a accostée
Venir me relancer

The lyrics of Françoise Hardy's song Ça a raté tells a story of a girl who was walking alone on the street and was approached by an unknown boy. At first, she pretended not to hear or see him and ignored him, but that plan failed. The next day, as she was walking, the boy caught up to her and tried to talk to her again. She talked about herself incessantly, hoping to discourage him, but that plan also failed. Eventually, they ended up dancing together until midnight and continuing to see each other every day. Despite her initial attempts to avoid him, she finds herself falling in love with him, and she is happy that her earlier plans to avoid him had failed.
These lyrics can be interpreted as a story of unexpected love, highlighting the idea that sometimes things don't go according to our plan, but it can still lead to happiness. The song also plays with the common trope of a girl playing hard to get, only to eventually fall for the boy's charms.
In terms of the melody, the song has a catchy and upbeat tune that matches the energy of the lyrics. The use of the French word "twister" adds to the youthful and fun vibe of the song. Overall, Ça a raté is a lighthearted and playful song with a positive message about love and spontaneity.

Un jour que dans la rue
One day while walking alone in the street
Seule je me promenais
I was taking a walk by myself
Un garcon inconnu
A stranger guy
Soudain m'a accostée
Suddenly approached me
I acted as if I heard nothing
Ne voyait rien et l'ignorait
Pretended to be oblivious to him
Mais ca a raté
But it didn't work out as planned
Le lendemain par hasard
The next day by chance
Comme je me promenais
While taking a walk
Je l'ai vu sans retard
I saw him without delay
Venir me relancer
Coming back to catch up with me
Pour le décourager
To discourage him
I talked incessantly about myself to him
Mais ca a raté
But it didn't work out as planned
Il m'a dit Que faites-vous ce soir ?
He asked me what I was doing that night
Et il a si bien insisté
And he insisted so well
Que jusqu'à minuit et plus tard
That we stayed together, dancing until midnight and later
Ensemble, oui, nous avons twisté
Together, yes, we twisted
On se voit chaque jour
We see each other every day
Et, dois-je l'avouer,
And, should I admit
Je suis prise à mon tour
I, too, have fallen for him
Car je crois bien l'aimer
Because I really believe I love him
Moi qui voulais
I, who wanted
A tout prix l'éviter
To avoid him at all costs
I'm quite happy it didn't work out as planned
Moi qui voulais
I, who wanted
A tout prix l'éviter
To avoid him at all costs
I'm quite happy it didn't work out as planned
