Françoise Hardy signed her first contract with the record label Vogue in November 1961. In April 1962, shortly after finishing school, her first record Oh Oh Chéri appeared, written by Johnny Hallyday's writing duo. Her own flip side of the record, "Tous Les Garçons Et Les Filles" became a success, riding the wave of Yé-yé music in France, with two million sales.
Hardy sang in French, English, Italian, Spanish, and German. In 1963 she came fifth for Monaco in the Eurovision Song Contest with "L'amour s'en va". In 1963, she was awarded the Grand Prix Du Disque of the Charles Cros Academy.
In 1981, she married her long-time companion Jacques Dutronc, with whom she had had a son, Thomas Dutronc, in 1973. In 1994, she collaborated with the British pop group Blur for their "La Comedie" version of To The End. In May 2000, she made a comeback with the album Clair Obscur. Her son played guitar and her husband sang the duet "Puisque Vous Partez En Voyage." Iggy Pop and Étienne Daho also took part. Hardy lives near Paris and Dutronc lives in Monticello, Corsica, although they remain a couple.[citation needed]
Je t'aime
Francoise Hardy Lyrics

The lyrics by Françoise Hardy's song Je t'aime speak about the intense emotions and feelings she experiences when she thinks of the person she loves. The first stanza talks about how the absence of her loved one brings her sorrow, and when she hears from them or sees them, it makes her heart beat fast. She wonders if it's because she loves them. The second stanza talks about the fear of her loved one being interested in another person, and how she holds an immense tenderness in her heart for this person. She wishes to be everything for them, even if that means being someone she's not. She questions if these feelings mean that she loves them.
The chorus is a repetition of her declaration of love. She says it multiple times, emphasizing the weight of her feelings. In the third stanza, she mentions the paradoxical nature of her love. She knows it'll bring both happiness and pain, but she still loves this person despite it. She concludes that all these sensations she's feeling can only mean one thing; she loves them.
Overall, the lyrics convey the theme of a deep, almost obsessive love for someone. Françoise Hardy is willing to go through the motions of loving them, even if it means enduring heartache or changing her identity to be everything this person needs. Her love seems to be all-consuming, as her emotions come in waves, and she can't escape the idea of loving them.

Si j'ai du chagrin lorsque tu n'es pas là,
If I feel sad when you're not around,

What a perfect song, on my I-pod as I walk through the woods. Driving beat, lovely voice, exquisite tune that sends me into 60s thrills of dancing beat. And she fits with the nature I'm grooving with. That Francoise is a spirit of my forest, in Vancouver's Stanley Park.
