Françoise Hardy signed her first contract with the record label Vogue in November 1961. In April 1962, shortly after finishing school, her first record Oh Oh Chéri appeared, written by Johnny Hallyday's writing duo. Her own flip side of the record, "Tous Les Garçons Et Les Filles" became a success, riding the wave of Yé-yé music in France, with two million sales.
Hardy sang in French, English, Italian, Spanish, and German. In 1963 she came fifth for Monaco in the Eurovision Song Contest with "L'amour s'en va". In 1963, she was awarded the Grand Prix Du Disque of the Charles Cros Academy.
In 1981, she married her long-time companion Jacques Dutronc, with whom she had had a son, Thomas Dutronc, in 1973. In 1994, she collaborated with the British pop group Blur for their "La Comedie" version of To The End. In May 2000, she made a comeback with the album Clair Obscur. Her son played guitar and her husband sang the duet "Puisque Vous Partez En Voyage." Iggy Pop and Étienne Daho also took part. Hardy lives near Paris and Dutronc lives in Monticello, Corsica, although they remain a couple.[citation needed]
La fille avec toi

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Un soir que je m'ennuyais
De trop penser à toi
J'ai voulu m'en retourner
Où nous allions autrefois
À peine étais-je rentrée
C'est toi que j'aperçus
J'aurais bien dû m'en aller
Mais tu m'avais déjà vue
Qu'elle était jolie
La fille avec toi!
Comme tu lui as dit
Que tu m'avais bien connue autrefois
Je suis restée peu de temps
J'avais trop de chagrin
Je t'aimais toujours autant
Pour toi, je ne signifiais rien
Qu'elle était jolie
La fille avec toi
Comme tu lui as dit
Que tu m'avais bien connue autrefois
Hmm, hmm, oh, oh
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
The song "Fille Avec Toi" by Françoise Hardy narrates the story of a woman who bumps into her ex-lover while reminiscing about him on a lonely night. The woman had been missing her partner intensely while alone, leading her to want to go back to the places they used to visit together. Once she returns, she unintentionally runs into her ex-lover with a new girl, and a mix of emotions floods her. The woman knows she should have left immediately after seeing them, but her former partner had already spotted her.
The singer's mixed feelings intensify upon noticing the new girl with her ex-lover. She couldn't help but admit that the girl was beautiful, and the ex-lover tells the girl about their past relationship, which only adds to her pain. The woman assures herself that she would not stay long and leave after realizing that nothing had changed between them, even though she still loves him as much as before. The lyrics convey a sense of hurt, longing, and disappointment in the relationship that didn't last.
Overall, the lyrics of the song reveal a complicated emotion that comes with bumping into an ex-partner after a break-up. The song is melancholic, and the lyrics narrate a poignant story powerfully. It captures the essence of a failed relationship, the pain that comes with it, and the eventual acceptance that it has indeed ended.
