Françoise Hardy signed her first contract with the record label Vogue in November 1961. In April 1962, shortly after finishing school, her first record Oh Oh Chéri appeared, written by Johnny Hallyday's writing duo. Her own flip side of the record, "Tous Les Garçons Et Les Filles" became a success, riding the wave of Yé-yé music in France, with two million sales.
Hardy sang in French, English, Italian, Spanish, and German. In 1963 she came fifth for Monaco in the Eurovision Song Contest with "L'amour s'en va". In 1963, she was awarded the Grand Prix Du Disque of the Charles Cros Academy.
In 1981, she married her long-time companion Jacques Dutronc, with whom she had had a son, Thomas Dutronc, in 1973. In 1994, she collaborated with the British pop group Blur for their "La Comedie" version of To The End. In May 2000, she made a comeback with the album Clair Obscur. Her son played guitar and her husband sang the duet "Puisque Vous Partez En Voyage." Iggy Pop and Étienne Daho also took part. Hardy lives near Paris and Dutronc lives in Monticello, Corsica, although they remain a couple.[citation needed]
So Sad
Francoise Hardy Lyrics

But now I feel them slip away
It makes me cry
To see love die
So sad to watch good love go bad
Remember how you used to feel, dear
You said nothing could change your mind
To see us part
So sad to watch good love go bad
Is it any wonder
That I feel so blue
When I know for certain
That I'm losing you...
Remember how you used to feel, dear
You said nothing could change your mind
It breaks my heart
To see us part
So sad to watch good love go bad
The lyrics of Françoise Hardy's song "So Sad" express the sorrow and desperation of losing a once-loving relationship. The opening lines reminisce the happier times the couple spent together, highlighting the sense of nostalgia that occurs when someone realizes that what was once good has now ended. The phrase "But now I feel them slip away" conveys a sense of inevitability, an understanding that the relationship has taken a turn for the worse, and there is nothing that can be done to save it. The next line "It makes me cry, to see love die" highlights the depth of grief felt by the singer. There is a feeling of helplessness as they witness the end of a love that was once so strong.
The chorus further highlights this sense of loss and hopelessness. The phrase "So sad to watch good love go bad" expresses the singer's pain in seeing something that was once beautiful fall apart. The repeated use of the word "sad" emphasizes the overwhelming emotional impact the end of the relationship has had on the singer. The second verse describes the emotional pain caused by the end of the relationship. The phrase "It breaks my heart to see us part" expresses the hurt and sadness felt by the singer as they watch the love they once knew slip away. The repetition of the line "Remember how you used to feel, dear" highlights the memory of happier times and the sense of loss that follows their end.
