The song "Imela" by Frank Edwards primarily expresses the desire of the singer to be in God's presence, worshipping and praising Him. He talks about wanting to see and touch God and kiss His feet, proclaiming that God is the one he beholds when he takes a look at himself. The lyrics also emphasize that the singer's singing and praising of God is all he wants to do and that it is the Lord he is talking to.
The repeated chorus of "Imela, Imela, Imela Ozo eh" means "Thank You, Thank You, Thank You again" in Igbo, a language spoken in southeastern Nigeria. The phrase "Onye neme nma le" also repeated in the chorus means "The one who does good things" in the same language. The chorus is a declaration of gratitude to God.
The song encourages believers to constantly give thanks to God and to desire to be in His presence, worshipping and praising Him. It also shows the importance of acknowledging God as the reason for one's existence and the source of all good things.
