many people everywhere
keep smiling instead of tje day
you're the reason the sun is shining
u and i can make this world a better place
when we smile
this world e go be a better place when you smile o.
the thing wey you dey find for sokoto, e dey for your sokoto
In Frank Edwards's song 'Smile', he encourages his listeners to look around and see the beauty all around them. Despite the troubles and struggles of life, Edwards urges his listeners to keep a smile on their faces to brighten up the world. He reminds his listeners that they are the reason the sun is shining, and with a simple smile, they can make the world a better place. Edwards believes that together, we can overcome the world's problems and make the world a happier place to live in. The song encourages people to appreciate the little things in life and cherish every moment, even when things are tough.
Edwards uses the Nigerian proverb "the thing wey you dey find for sokoto, e dey for your sokoto" to emphasize the importance of contentment and being grateful for what one has. The proverb translates to "what you are searching for in Sokoto (a distant place), is in your Sokoto (pocket)," meaning that a person's happiness and satisfaction are within them, and they need to be content with what they have.
