Skyline To
Frank Ocean Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

This is joy, this is summer
Keep alive, stay alive
Got your metal on, we're alone
Making sweet love, takin' time
'Til God strikes us
That's a pretty fucking fast year flew by
That's a pretty long third gear in this car
Glidin' on the five
The deer run across, kill the headlights
Pretty fucking, underneath moonlight now
Pretty fucking, sunrise in sight
In comes the morning, haunting us with the beams
Solstice ain't as far as it used to be
It begins to blur, we get older (blur)
Summer's not as long as it used to be
Everyday counts like crazy (smoke, haze)
Wanna get soaked?
Wanna film a tape on the speed boat?
We smell of Californication
Strike a pose
Everything grows in the Congo, everything grows
Ooh, can you come when I call again?

On comes the evening, gold seeking ends
Piece in my hands worth twice than a friend
And two limbs over shoulder, carried away
Because I'm stronger and the Congo is dim (smoke)
In comes the morning, ah (smoke)
In comes the morning, ah (haze)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Frank Ocean's song "Skyline To" offer an introspective look into his life and experiences. The opening stanza paints a picture of summer love and indulgence, with the singer suggesting that they make the most of their time until it's over. However, the reference to God striking them suggests that the happiness they are experiencing is temporary, and they should value it while it lasts.

The following verses describe the passing of time, with the singer reminiscing about the previous year and how quickly it passed by. The lines "In comes the morning, haunting us with the beams" convey a sense of regret and melancholy about the passage of time. The mention of the solstice marks the halfway point of the year, and the singers' realization that summer is not as long as it used to be adds to the feelings of nostalgia and reminiscence.

The final verse takes a more introspective turn, with the singer contemplating the value of friendship and material possessions in the grand scheme of things. The mention of the Congo and the lines "Everything grows in the Congo, everything grows" suggest a philosophical look at life and growth. The repeated refrain of "In comes the morning, ah" leaves the listener with a sense of uncertainty and ambiguity, much like the passing of time and the unpredictable nature of life.

Since you decided to read the comments... Welcome to the most underrated song on the album

@p1ckleluvr

always strive and prosper this isn’t very underrated. just that people don’t take the time to listen to the rest of frank’s songs because they’ll only listen to such songs that are overplayed. fake fans man.

@edgariva12

This album took a while for people to settle on and to devour and break down including me and when I listened to channel orange after blonde you understand why people didn’t fully go into this album but blonde was still good n full of underrated songs

@TWHowl

Ed gAr are you saying you think orange is better? Just curious, because that album was magic to me when I listened straight thru when it released. This one feels like a good reminder of how great that one was, but not as strong.
