His later voice can be attributed to maturing, cigarettes,and heavy drinking. I can say this,because he's been my favorite singer for as long as I can remember. 🎶❤

Ditto the Billie Holiday Decca 1940's sides have a similar difference to her Columbia records output from the '30' in my opinion but that's the other way round!
