Mistletoe and Holly
Frank Sinatra Lyrics

Oh, by gosh, by golly
It's time for mistletoe and holly
Tasty pheasants, Christmas presents
Countrysides covered with snow

Oh, by gosh, by jingle
It's time for carols and Kris Kringle
Overeating, merry greeting
From relatives you don't know
Then comes that big night
Giving the tree the trim
You'll hear voices by starlight
Singing a yuletide hymn

Oh, by gosh, by golly
It's time for mistletoe and holly
Fancy ties and granny's pies
And folks stealin' a kiss or two
As they whisper, "Merry Christmas" to you

Then comes that big night
Giving the tree the trim
You'll hear voices by starlight
Singing a Yuletide hymn

Oh, by gosh, by golly
It's time for mistletoe and holly
Fancy ties and granny's pies
And folks stealin' a kiss or two
As they whisper, "Merry Christmas" to you

My mother was a huge Sinatra fan & bought this X-mas album when it was released in 1957 (the year she & my father married). We had a few more Christmas albums over the years, but this was our family's favorite. My siblings & I knew Christmas had officially started in our home when mom put "A Jolly Christmas From Frank Sinatra" on the big fancy console stereo we had in the living room (anyone remember those?) As soon as the album came out in CD form, I bought one for myself & mailed one to my parents when I knew they had a CD player. It is a holiday tradition in our family & we remember every song. Frank did some old standards but this song, "Mistletoe & Holly," was an original by him. My beloved mother passed away a few months ago. I have a copy of this CD in my car right now & was playing it yesterday while driving home from work & trying not to cry. I consider Frank's X-mas album one of the best holiday albums ever. RIP Francis Albert Sinatra & my mother, Nancy.

Heard this for the first time, and was instantly hooked. It has a catchy tune.
