Along with Jobim’s original compositions, the album features three standards from the ‘Great American Songbook’, (“Change Partners”, “I Concentrate On You”, and “Baubles, Bangles and Beads”) arranged in the bossa nova style.
Sinatra and Jobim reconvened to record a follow up in 1969, with arrangements by Eumir Deodato. Though the recordings were released briefly on 8 track tape, as 'Sinatra-Jobim', the regular album release was suspended. The recordings did not appear on album until 1971, when issued as side 1 of 'Sinatra & Company', with Sinatra solo recordings occupying Side 2.
Three songs recorded at the 'Sinatra-Jobim' session – "Bonita", "Sabiá", and "Off Key (Desafinado)" – were omitted from 'Sinatra & Company' : "Sabiá" was released in the USA in 1970 as the flip side of the 45 rpm single "Lady Day" and appeared with "Bonita" on the 1977 compilation 'Portrait of Sinatra' and the 1979 compilation, 'Sinatra-Jobim Sessions' ; "Off Key (Desafinado)" was unreleased until its inclusion on the box set 'The Complete Reprise Studio Recordings' in 1995.
In 2010 the Concord Records label issued ''Sinatra-Jobim: The Complete Reprise Recordings', a collection of all the tracks recorded in the 1967 and 1969 sessions by the artists.
Dindi
Frank Sinatra & Antônio Carlos Jobim Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
with far away clouds just wandering by
Where do they go?
oh, I don't know, don't know
Wind that speaks to the leaves
telling stories that no one believes
Stories of love belong to you and to me
if I only had words I would say all the beautiful
Things that I see
when you're with me, oh my dindi
Oh dindi
like the song of the wind in the trees
that's how my heart is Singing dindi
happy dindi,
when you are with me
I love you more each day, yes I do, yes I do
I'd let you go away,
if you take me with you
Don't you know, dindi
I'd be running and searching for you like a river that
Can't find the sea
that would be me without you, my dindi
Like a river that can't find the sea
that would be me without you, my dindi, dindi, dindi, dindi
The lyrics to Frank Sinatra and Antonio Carlos Jobim's song "Dindi" are a poetic expression of the singer's love and admiration for their beloved. The song opens with the vastness of the sky and the enigmatic wandering of clouds, representing the many unknowns and uncertainties of life. The wind, a common metaphor for freedom and unpredictability, speaks to the leaves and tells stories that no one believes. However, the singer believes in love and sings of how stories of love belong to them and their partner.
The chorus is an ode to the lovely dindi, a name that is assumed to refer to the singer's beloved. The singer lamentably admits that they lack the adequate words to express the beauty that they see when dindi is with them. Dindi is compared to the "song of the wind in the trees," emphasizing the joy and happiness that they bring to the singer's life. The singer confesses their love for dindi and how it continues to grow with each passing day. They also express that they would follow dindi, even if it meant leaving everything behind.
In conclusion, "Dindi" is a beautiful love song that highlights the depth and richness of one's love for another person. It explores various natural elements and their symbolism to convey emotions of love, joy and happiness.

Dindi - (tradução)
Writer (s): Antonio Carlos Jobim

Surprising song in the voice of the greatest of all, Frank.
@antoniod
Nice that all the Sinatra/Jobim recordings are together. The intended second S-J album was truncated to 7 songs and released as half of "Sinatra and Company", with songs from other sessions folling out the second half, in 1971.
